Translation by Shree Aurobindo
Mother, I bow to thee! Rich with thy hurrying streams, bright with orchard gleams, Cool with thy winds of delight, Dark fields waving Mother of might, Mother free. Glory of moonlight dreams,
Over thy branches and lordly streams,
Clad in thy blossoming trees,
Mother, giver of ease
Laughing low and sweet!
Mother I kiss thy feet,
Speaker sweet and low!
Mother, to thee I bow.

Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 January to commemorate the date and moment when the Constitution of India came into effect.
Republic Day is celebrated with great pomp and show throughout India each year on 26th January. This is one of the most important National Events of India. It is celebrated every year on 26th January at our Country’s capital New Delhi with great pomp and parade, while at the same time it is also celebrated in the Capitals of the States and Headquarters. It was on January 26th, 1950 that, the Constitution of India came into force and India became a truly Sovereign, Democratic and Republic State. On this day, India finally enjoyed the freedom of spirit, rule of law and fundamental principle of governance. Now-a-days, the patriotic passion of the Indian people brings the whole Country together even in her embedded diversity. This year India is going to celebrate its 62nd Republic Day on coming January 26th, 2013.
Republic Day
Republic Day is a day of the citizen of the Country when he/she is entitled to be all Supreme. India gained independence from the British Rule on 15th August,1947. But till January 26th, 1950, it did not have the proper law of the land for ruling the Country. On this particular date in 1950 the Constitution of India came into force and India became true Nation State with true sovereign and republic sense.
The independence was achieved in 1947 while the professed pledge was redeemed on 26th January, 1950. The Indian Constituent Assembly was called together on 9th December, 1946, where a committee was formed. Dr.B.R.Ambedkar became the Chairman of the Committee and along with the other members, he drafted the Constitution. The Indian Constitution included 395 Articles and 8 Schedules. The Constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November, 1949. In the following year on 26th
January, 1950, the Constitution of India came into force and became a ‘Sovereign Democratic Republic’ of India, 894 days after the withdrawal of British Rule in 1947, which is why, it is said that India achieved its true independence on this day.
The tri-color flag was unfurled by the nationalists present who took a promise to celebrate ‘Purna Swaraj’ (complete Independence) Day every year on 26th January, while continuing to fight for the establishment of a Sovereign Democratic Republic of India. This was finished by the first President of free India Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The two decade long journey, right from the conceptualization of the dream in 1930 to its actual realization in 1950, is certainly worth a grand celebration. Today, the Indian Constitution is the longest in the World, consisting of 397 articles and 12 schedules, providing a single citizenship for the whole nation. This day is celebrated as a National Holiday all over India.
The most amazing celebrations are marked by the Republic Day Parade that takes place in the capital of New Delhi at Rajpath. It includes: march past of the three armed forces, massive parades, folk dances by tribal folk from different States in charming costumes marking the cultural unity of India. Further, the streak of jet planes of Indian Air Force, leaving a trial of colored smoke, marks the end of the festival.

Lowering Your High Cholesterol?

Lowering Your High Cholesterol?
Too much cholesterol in the blood can lead to heart disease and stroke America’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers. You can reduce your cholesterol by eating healthful foods, losing weight if you need to and being physically active. Some people also need to take medicine because changing their diet isn’t enough. Your doctor and nurses will help you set up a plan for reducing your cholesterol and keeping yourself healthy! Most heart and blood vessel disease is caused by a buildup of cholesterol, plaque and other fatty deposits in artery walls. The arteries that feed the heart can become so clogged that the blood flow is reduced, causing chest pain. If a blood clot forms and blocks the artery, a heart attack can occur. Similarly, if a blood clot blocks an artery leading to or in the brain, a stroke results.
What should I eat?
1. Focus on low-saturated-fat, trans fat-free, low-cholesterol foods such as these:
2. A variety of deeply colored fruits and vegetables (4 to 5 servings of each per day)
3. A variety of fiber-rich grain products like whole grain bread, cereal, pasta and brown rice. (6 to 8 servings per day with at least half of the servings whole grains)
4. Fat-free, 1 percent and low-fat milk products (2 to 3 servings per day)
5. Lean meats and poultry without skin (choose up to 5 to 6 total ounces per day)
6. Fatty fish (enjoy at least 2 servings baked or grilled each week)
7. Nuts, seeds, and legumes (dried beans or peas) in limited amounts (4 to 5 servings per week).\
8. Unsaturated vegetable oils like canola, corn, olive, safflower and soybean oils (but a limited amount of tub or liquid unsalted margarines and spreads made from them)
What should I limit?
1. Whole milk, cream and ice cream
2. Butter, egg yolks and cheese and foods made with them
3. Organ meats like liver, sweetbreads, kidney and brain
4. High-fat processed meats like sausage, bologna, salami and hot dogs
5. Fatty meats that aren’t trimmed
6. Duck and goose meat (raised for market)
7. Bakery goods made with egg yolks, saturated fats and trans fats.
8. Saturated oils like coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil
9. Solid fats like shortening, partially hydrogenated margarine and lard
10. Fried foods
Excercise
a. Aerobic exercises are probably the best approach to lowering cholesterol. Walking, cycling or swimming are good examples of aerobic exercise.
b. Your goal should be to exercise at least 4 days per week for cardiovascular benefit, 6 days per week if desiring weight loss.
c. Measure your pulse rate (if possible) before, during (midway), and after exercise. The pulse can be found near your wrist (thumb side, called radial pulse) or on the neck (carotid). Count the number of pulses in 15 seconds, then multiply by four (4) to give the number of pulses per minute.
d. If you choose walking as your exercise, you should gradually work up to 45 to 60 minutes per session (or per day: exercise has a cumulative effect).
Home Remedies for High Blood Pressure

Home Remedies for High Blood Pressure
Blood pressure is the force put on the walls of the blood vessels with each heartbeat. Blood pressure helps move blood through your body. Often accompanied by excess weight, high blood pressure is a major risk factor for stroke, congestive heart failure, kidney disease, and the leading killer heart disease. If you are someone who has high blood pressure, the mainstream medical industry wants nothing more than your eternal business, buying their pharmaceutical drugs that never really cure anything. But instead of doing that, try utilizing one of these natural solutions.1. Drink Coconut Water to Combat High Blood Pressure
Coconut water is a tasty and nutritious beverage which has also been shown to be effective at lowering blood pressure. In one study where authors investigated the effects of coconut water when regularly consumed, they found that coconut water was able to significantly lower blood pressure in 71 percent of the study participants. This refreshing beverage has also been shown to rise above sports drinks in hydration while causing not nearly as many stomach pains.
2. Apple Cider Vinegar
Effectively helping thousands of health ailments such as strep throat and acid reflux, apple cider vinegar is also a fantastic solution for high blood pressure. Just a few tablespoons a day for one month could have a dramatic impact. I have seen people’s blood pressure go from 150/80 to 130/80 in just a month while taking 2 tablespoons of ACV a day. Many others have experienced the same scenario, and blood pressure medications are often chucked. It could help you too.
3. Vitamin D
Research points out that vitamin D can be an effective solution to lower blood pressure, promote vascular health by helping blood vessels, and contribute to healthy arteries. While helping to lower blood pressure, this powerful cancer fighter can also protect you from the flu 800% better than any flu vaccine.
4. Aloe Vera, Hibiscus Tea, Cayenne Pepper
Aloe, cayenne pepper, honey, and tea are all fabulous for helping with a whole host of health problems. They are often used in combination to treat anything from strep throat to lowering insulin levels to boosting overall health. Not surprisingly, some individuals have also found this combination to effectively lower blood pressure.
5. Garlic supplements should only be used under the supervision of a qualified health practitioner. Garlic can thin the blood (reduce the ability of blood to clot) similar to aspirin. Garlic may interact with many drugs and supplements such as the prescription "blood-thinners" drugs such as Coumadin (warfarin) or Trental (pentoxifylline), aspirin, vitamin E, gingko. It is usually recommended that people taking garlic stop in the weeks before and after any type of surgery.
6. Hawthorn
The herb hawthorn is often used by traditional herbal practitioners for high blood pressure.
7. Ayurvedic Medicine
In Ayurveda, the traditional medicine of India, high blood pressure is treated according to each person’s dosha, or constitutional type.
The pitta type may have a flushed face, red eyes, headaches, light sensitivity, irritability, and nosebleeds.
The kapha type may have excess weight, water retention, high cholesterol, sluggishness.
The vata type may feel cold, have gas, bloating, or constipation, insomnia, or nervousness, worry, or anxiety.
8. Traditional Chinese Medicine
In traditional Chinese medicine, high blood pressure is often attributed to a problem with the circulation of vital energy (qi) in the body. Chinese medicine practitioners believe that depression, anger, obesity, and high intake of fatty foods are some of the causative factors.
A combination of acupuncture and herbs is often recommended. Foods thought to have medicinal properties that may help high blood pressure include water chestnut, turnip, honey, Chinese celery, hawthorn berries, and mung beans.
9. In addition to all of these solutions, living an overall healthy lifestyle with some exercise will also help greatly. This means avoiding fructose, which has been shown to up the risk of having blood pressure levels of 160/100 mmHg by 77 percent with the consumption of 74 grams (2.5 sugary drinks). Maintaining a healthy weight while reducing fructose intake to no more than 20g per day are excellent preventative measures.
10. Eat a Diet with Plenty of Fruits, Vegetables and Grains
Potassium and magnesium found in these foods may help control your blood pressure. Foods that are high in potassium include: bananas, catfish, orange juice, spinach, dried fruit, dried beans and potatoes. Food sources of magnesium include: whole grain breads and cereals, green leafy vegetables and beans.

10 Tips for a Healthier Back

10 Tips for a Healthier Back
Sitting in an office chair all day, or spending hours in a vehicle on the road, can make your back hurt. And jobs that require a lot of physical activity can also lead to back pain. If you’ve ever uttered the words, “Oh, my aching back,” you’re not alone.
Half of all working Americans have back pain each year. It’s the most common reason people miss work. And it’s the second-most common reason people visit the doctor, topped only by coughs and colds. Fortunately, most back pain isn’t caused by serious conditions. That means you can take action to get relief.
1. When you sit, make sure your feet are flat on the floor, either by adjusting the seat or using a footrest.
2. Place a rolled towel or small cushion behind you, if your chair doesn’t offer enough lower back support .
3. Take regular breaks to stand up, stretch, and move around.
4. Wear comfortable low heeled shoes.
5. Ask for help when moving heavy boxes or equipment.
6. When you do lift things, lift with your knees, pull in your stomach muscles, and keep your head down and in line with your straight back. Keep the object close to your body. Do not twist when lifting.
7. Sleep on your side to reduce any curve in your spine. Always sleep on a firm surface.
8. Eat nutritious foods. And lose weight if you need to. Excess weight around the waistline can strain lower back muscles.
9. If you smoke, quit. Smoking reduces blood flow to the lower spine and causes the spinal discs to degenerate.
10. Try yoga or stretching. This can help strengthen your back muscles and improve your posture.

Cabbage belongs to the Cruciferae family along with kale, broccoli, collards and Brussels sprouts. It is thought that a group of Celtic wanderers brought the original wild cabbage to Europe in 600 B.C. Ancient Romans and Greeks believed it could cure a wide variety of ailments. Cabbage structurally consists of clusters of stiff leaves superimposed one over the other in compact layers, giving it a round or globular shape. Several varieties are cultivated worldwide including green, purple, red, and savoy (loose-wrinkled leaves).Nutritive Values of Cabbage : Per 100 gm.

Life Lessons
1. Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do.2. Accept the past as past, without denying it or discarding it.
3. Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others.
4. Don’t assume that it is too late to get involved.
5. Find someone to share your heart, give to your community, be at peace with yourself, try to be as human as you can be.
6. Love always wins.
7. The culture we have does not make people feel good about themselves. And you have to be strong enough to say if the culture doesn’t work, don’t buy it.
8. So many people walk around with a meaningless life. They seem half-asleep, even when they’re busy doing things they think are important. This is because they’re chasing the wrong things. The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.
9. If you really want it, then you’ll make your dream happen.
10. The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in.
11. Love is the only rational act.
12. I don’t allow myself any more self-pity than that. A little each morning, a few tears, and that’s all . It’s horrible to watch my body slowly wilt away to nothing. But it’s also wonderful because of all the time I get to say goodbye.
13. Sometimes you can’t believe what you see; you have to believe what you feel.
14. What if today were my last day on earth?.
15. Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.
16. If you accept you are going to die at any time, then you might not be as ambitious as you are.
17. There is no foundation, no secure ground, upon which people may stand today if it isn’t the family.
18. Don’t cling to things, because everything is impermanent.
19. If you’ve found meaning in your life you don’t want to go back. You want to go forward. You want to see more, do more. You can’t wait until sixty-five.
20. Money is not a substitute for tenderness, and power is not a substitute for tenderness.
21. Love is how you stay alive, even after you are gone.
22. Love each other or perish.
23. The big things how we think, what we value those you must choose yourself. You can’t let anyone-or any society determine those for you.
24. Don’t let go too soon, but don’t hang on too long.
25. Be compassionate. And take responsibility for each other. If we only learned those lessons, this world would be so much better a place.
26. Forgive yourself before you die. Then forgive others.
27. As long as we can love each other, and remember the feeling of love we had, we can die without ever really going away. All the love you created is still there. All the memories are still there. You live on in the hearts of everyone you have touched and nurtured while you were here.
28. Death ends a life, not a relationship.
29. The important questions have to do with love, responsibility, spirituality, awareness.
30. You’re not a wave, you are part of the ocean.
31. There is no such thing as ‘too late’ in life.

Types of viruses
Posted on 20:51 by Unknown
Types of viruses
Like viruses that infect living beings, computer viruses infect your computer. They are software, and are often attached to other software or documents you might receive. When you run the virus's software or the file the virus has infected, the virus can infect your computer's software. There are many types of viruses and terms for them, but we'll use the general term 'virus' to make things easy.
Types of viruses :-
The different types of viruses are as follows-
1) Boot Sector Virus :- Boot sector viruses infect either the master boot record of the hard disk or the floppy drive. The boot record program responsible for the booting of operating system is replaced by the virus. The virus either copies the master boot program to another part of the hard disk or overwrites it. They infect a computer when it boots up or when it accesses the infected floppy disk in the floppy drive. i.e. Once a system is infected with a boot-sector virus, any non-write-protected disk accessed by this system will become infected.
Examples of boot- sector viruses are Michelangelo and Stoned.
2) File or Program Viruses :- Some files/programs, when executed, load the virus in the memory and perform predefined functions to infect the system. They infect program files with extensions like .EXE, .COM, .BIN, .DRV and .SYS
Some common file viruses are Sunday, Cascade.
3) Multipartite Viruses :- A multipartite virus is a computer virus that infects multiple different target platforms, and remains recursively infective in each target. It attempts to attack both the boot sector and the executable, or programs, files at the same time. When the virus attaches to the boot sector, it will in turn affect the system’s files, and when the virus attaches to the files, it will in turn infect the boot sector. This type of virus can re-infect a system over and over again if all parts of the virus are not eradicated.Ghostball was the first multipartite virus, discovered by Fridrik Skulason in October 1989.
Other examples are Invader, Flip, etc.
4) Stealth Viruses :- These viruses are stealthy in nature means it uses various methods for hiding themselves to void detection. They sometimes remove themselves from the memory temporarily to avoid detection by antivirus. They are somewhat difficult to detect. When an antivirus program tries to detect the virus, the stealth virus feeds the antivirus program a clean image of the file or boot sector.
5) Polymorphic Viruses :- Polymorphic viruses have the ability to mutate implying that they change the viral code known as the signature each time they spread or infect. Thus an antivirus program which is scanning for specific virus codes unable to detect it's presense.
6) Macro Viruses :- A macro virus is a computer virus that "infects" a Microsoft Word or similar application and causes a sequence of actions to be performed automatically when the application is started or something else triggers it. Macro viruses tend to be surprising but relatively harmless.A macro virus is often spread as an e-mail virus. Well-known examples are
7) Concept Virus and Melissa Worm.:Computer Virus is a kind of malicious software written intentionally to enter a computer without the user’s permission or knowledge, with an ability to replicate itself, thus continuing to spread. Some viruses do little but replicate others can cause severe harm or adversely effect program and performance of the system. A virus should never be assumed harmless and left on a system. Most common types of viruses are mentioned below:
8) Resident Viruses:This type of virus is a permanent which dwells in the RAM memory. From there it can overcome and interrupt all of the operations executed by the system: corrupting files and programs that are opened, closed, copied, renamed etc.
Examples include: Randex, CMJ, Meve, and MrKlunky.
10) Direct Action Viruses:The main purpose of this virus is to replicate and take action when it is executed. When a specific condition is met, the virus will go into action and infect files in the directory or folder that it is in and in directories that are specified in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file PATH. This batch file is always located in the root directory of the hard disk and carries out certain operations when the computer is booted.
11) Overwrite Viruses:Virus of this kind is characterized by the fact that it deletes the information contained in the files that it infects, rendering them partially or totally useless once they have been infected. The only way to clean a file infected by an overwrite virus is to delete the file completely, thus losing the original content.
Examples of this virus include: Way, Trj.Reboot, Trivial.88.D.
12) Boot Virus:This type of virus affects the boot sector of a floppy or hard disk. This is a crucial part of a disk, in which information on the disk itself is stored together with a program that makes it possible to boot (start) the computer from the disk.
Examples of boot viruses include: Polyboot.B, AntiEXE.
13) Macro Virus:Macro viruses infect files that are created using certain applications or programs that contain macros. These mini-programs make it possible to automate series of operations so that they are performed as a single action, thereby saving the user from having to carry them out one by one.
Examples of macro viruses: Relax, Melissa.A, Bablas, O97M/Y2K.
14) Directory Virus:Directory viruses change the paths that indicate the location of a file. By executing a program (file with the extension .EXE or .COM) which has been infected by a virus, you are unknowingly running the virus program, while the original file and program have been previously moved by the virus.Once infected it becomes impossible to locate the original files.
15) Polymorphic Virus:Polymorphic viruses encrypt or encode themselves in a different way (using different algorithms and encryption keys) every time they infect a system. This makes it impossible for anti-viruses to find them using string or signature searches (because they are different in each encryption) and also enables them to create a large number of copies of themselves.
Examples include: Elkern, Marburg, Satan Bug, and Tuareg.
16) File Infectors:This type of virus infects programs or executable files (files with an .EXE or .COM extension). When one of these programs is run, directly or indirectly, the virus is activated, producing the damaging effects it is programmed to carry out. The majority of existing viruses belong to this category, and can be classified depending on the actions that they carry out.
17) Companion Viruses:Companion viruses can be considered file infector viruses like resident or direct action types. They are known as companion viruses because once they get into the system they "accompany" the other files that already exist. In other words, in order to carry out their infection routines, companion viruses can wait in memory until a program is run (resident viruses) or act immediately by making copies of themselves (direct action viruses). Some examples include: Stator, Asimov.1539, and Terrax.1069
18) FAT Virus:The file allocation table or FAT is the part of a disk used to connect information and is a vital part of the normal functioning of the computer. This type of virus attack can be especially dangerous, by preventing access to certain sections of the disk where important files are stored. Damage caused can result in information losses from individual files or even entire directories.
19) Worms :A worm is a program very similar to a virus; it has the ability to self-replicate, and can lead to negative effects on your system and most importantly they are detected and eliminated by antiviruses.
Examples of worms include: PSWBugbear.B, Lovgate.F, Trile.C, Sobig.D, Mapson.
20) Trojans or Trojan Horses:Another unsavory breed of malicious code are Trojans or Trojan horses, which unlike viruses do not reproduce by infecting other files, nor do they self-replicate like worms.
21) Logic Bombs:They are not considered viruses because they do not replicate. They are not even programs in their own right but rather camouflaged segments of other programs.Their objective is to destroy data on the computer once certain conditions have been met. Logic bombs go undetected until launched, and the results can be destructive.
Install a good antivirus to avoid infections and effective removal.I have posted a topic on antivirus in the blog.

MAGNESIUM
Biochemists call magnesium the " cool, alkaline, refreshing, sleep-promoting mineral". Magnesium helps one keep calm and cool during the sweltering summer months. It aids in keeping nerves relaxed and normally balanced. It is necessary for all muscular activity. This mineral is in activator for most of the enzyme system involving carbohydrate, fat and protein in energy-producing reactions. It is involved in the production of lecithin which prevents building up of cholesterol and consequent atherosclerosis. Magnesium promotes a healthier cardiovascular system and aids in fighting depression. It helps prevent calcium deposits in kidneys and gallstones and also brings relief from indigestion.
Magnesium is widely distributed in foods. It is a part of the chlorophyll in green vegetables. Other good sources of this mineral are nuts, soyabeans, alfalfa, apples, figs, lemons, peaches, almonds, whole grains, brown rice, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds. The recommended dietary allowances for magnesium are 350 mg. per day for adult man, 300 mg. for women and 450 mg. during pregnancy and lactation. Deficiency can lead to kidney damage and kidney stones, muscle cramps, arteriosclerosis, heart attack, epileptic seizures, nervous irritability, marked depression and confusion, impaired protein metabolism and premature wrinkles. Chronic alcoholics often show a low plasma magnesium concentration and a high urinary output. They may, therefore, require magnesium therapy especially in an acute attack of delirium tremens. Magnesium has also proved useful in bladder and urinary problems and in epileptic seizure. This mineral together with vitamin B6 or pyridoxine has also been found effective in the prevention and treatment of kidney stones. Magnesium can be taken in therapeutic doses upto 700 mg. a day.
BROWN RICE

BROWN RICE
Brown rice is an excellent source of magnesium, iron, selenium, manganese, and the vitamins B1, B2, B3, and B6. Brown rice is a good source of dietary fiber, protein, and gamma-oryzanol. White rice is brown rice that has had essential nutrients removed when processed in order to make it easier and faster to cook, and to give it a longer shelf life. This is accomplished by removing the bran, and with it, minerals and vitamins that are necessary in our diet.1. Inositol hexaphosphate, a naturally occurring molecule found in high-fiber foods such as brown rice, is a compound that has been shown to demonstrate cancer prevention properties. Inositol hexaphosphate holds great promise in strategies for the prevention and
treatment of cancer.
2. Pancreatic cancer is an extremely virulent form of cancer with few effective treatments. An in vitro study has suggested that inositol hexaphosphate may be a therapy for treatment of pancreatic cancer. Brown rice has a rich content of manganese, which helps in the production of energy from carbohydrates and protein. The nutrient also plays a key role in the synthesis of fatty acids, which is necessary for a healthy nervous system. One can get about 88% of the daily need of manganese by consuming just one cup of brown rice.
3. The manganese present in brown rice is also required for the antioxidant enzyme, super oxide dismutase, which protects the mitochondria against the free radicals formed during energy production. Brown rice is a rich source of fiber and selenium, both of which help lower the risk of colon cancer significantly. Selenium also works with vitamin E, in several antioxidant systems of the body, which help fight against heart diseases. This is also beneficial against the symptoms of asthma and rheumatoid arthritis. The rice also contains insoluble fiber, which helps women avoid developing gallstones. It is rich in fiber, which contributes towards the reduction of cholesterol level and also the prevention of atherosclerosis.
4. The fiber also binds to the cancer-causing chemicals, protecting the body against colon cancer. The fiber present in brown rice also helps normalize the bowel function and thus, reduces constipation. The oil present in brown rice helps in lowering the cholesterol level in the body. Brown rice is extremely good for postmenopausal women with complains of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other symptoms of cardiovascular diseases. It contains phytonutrients, which are highly beneficial for sound health.
5. Brown rice is abundant in plant lignans, which get converted into mammalian lignans like enterolactone, in the intestine. Enterolactone is highly protective against breast and other hormone-dependent cancers and also heart diseases.
6. The rice helps in reducing the risk of insulin resistance and the metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is associated with symptoms like visceral obesity, high triglycerides, high blood pressure and low level of defensive HDL cholesterol.
7. Brown rice reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes. Brown rice is a good source of magnesium, which reduces the severity of asthma, lowers the frequency of migraine headaches and decreases the risk of heart attack and stroke. Magnesium balances the action of calcium and thus, helps in regulating nerve and muscle tone.
8. Brown rice offers major protection against breast cancer, especially in pre-menopausal women. Intake of brown rice can help the body fight against childhood asthma. It is also protective against obesity, ischemic stroke and insulin resistance.
Caution - Brown rice is not seen to have any negative effect on the body, including any allergic effect. It does not contain any significant amount of oxalates and purines. However, the rice that is not grown organically is seen to contain traces of arsenic. Though low doses of arsenic are not seen to cause any serious diseases, its heavy intake can make one more susceptible to the risk of cancer. So, always go for the organically grown brown rice, as it is free of arsenic content.
Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) Attacks
Posted on 07:57 by Unknown
-: Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) Attacks :-
What Does ARP Mean?
Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) is a stateless protocol, was designed to map Internet Protocol addresses (IP) to their associated Media Access Control (MAC) addresses. This being said, by mapping a 32 bit IP address to an associated 48 bit MAC address via attached Ethernet devices, a communication between local nodes can be made.
On a majority of operating systems, such as Linux, FreeBSD, and other UNIX based operating systems, and even including Windows, the "arp" program is present. This program can be used to display and/or modify ARP cache entries.
An example of the "arp" utility's output would look like the following:
Windows:
> arp -a
Interface: 192.168.1.100 .- 0x10003
Internet Address Physical Address Type
192.168.1.1 00-13-10-23-9a-53 dynamic
Linux:
$ arp -na
? (192.168.1.1) at 00:90:B1:DC:F8:C0 [ether] on eth0
FreeBSD:
$ arp -na
? (192.168.1.1) at 00:00:0c:3e:4d:49 on bge0
How ARP works?
Specifically for Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4), ARP maps IP addresses between the Network layer and Data Link layer of the Open System Interconnection (OSI) model.
For a more complete and thorough explanation of how address resolution works, and protocol specifics, please consult RFC 826.
ARP Protocol Flaws :-
ARP's main flaw is in its cache. Knowing that it is possible for ARP to update existing entries as well as add to the cache, this leads one to believe that forged replies can be made, which result in ARP cache poisoning attacks.
Terms & Definitions :-
ARP Cache Poisoning : Broadcasting forged ARP replies on a local network. In a sense, "fooling" nodes on the network. This can be done because ARP lacks authentication features, thus blindly accepting any request and reply that is received or sent.
MAC Address Flooding : An ARP cache poisoning attack that is mainly used in switched environments. By flooding a switch with fake MAC addresses, a switch is overloaded. Because of this, it broadcasts all network traffic to every connected node. This outcome is referred to as "broadcast mode" because, all traffic passing through the switch is broadcasted out like a Hub would do. This then can result in sniffing all network traffic.
The ARP Attacks :-
1] Connection Hijacking & Interception : Packet or connection hijacking and interception is the act in which any connected client can be victimized into getting their connection manipulated in a way that it is possible to take complete control over.
2] Connection Resetting : The name explains itself very well. When we are resetting a client's connection, we are cutting their connection to the system. This can be easily done using specially crafted code to do so. Luckily, we have wonderful software that was made to aid us in doing so.
3] Man In The Middle : One of the more prominent ways of attacking another user in order to hijack their traffic, is by means of a Man In The Middle (MITM) attack. Unlike the other attacks, a MITM is more a packet manipulation attack which in the end however does result in packet redirection to the attacker . all traffic will get sent to the attacker doing the MITM attack. This attack however is specific. As opposed to MAC Address Flooding or other attacks against a router/switch, the MITM attack is against a victim, and also can be done outside of a switched environment. Thus meaning, an attack can be executed against a person on the other side of the country.
4] Packet Sniffing : Sniffing on a Local Area Network (LAN) is quite easy if the network is segmented via a hub, rather than a switch. It is of course possible to sniff on a switched environment by performing a MAC flood attack. As a result of the MAC flood, the switch will act as a hub, and allow the entire network to be sniffed. This gives you a chance to use any sort of sniffing software available to you to use against the network, and gather packets.
5] Denial of Service : MAC Address Flooding can be considered a Denial of service attack. The main idea of the MAC flood, is to generate enough packet data to send toward a switch, attempting to make it panic. This will cause the switch to drop into broadcast mode and broadcast all packet data. This however did not result in a crash, or the service to be dropped, but to be overloaded.

20 Infamous Crimes Committed and Solved on Facebook.
Criminals might be taking to the web, but police are meeting them there.
Facebook has proved to be a powerful tool for law enforcement to locate criminal activity. All Facebook communication leaves a trail, which can come in handy when police need to solve a crime.
UK police have reported a 540% increase in Facebook crimes over the past three years, according to the Criminal Justice Degrees Guide. Crimes have taken a different form on Facebook, requiring the creation of new laws or reinterpretation of existing laws.
With more than 100,000 UK crimes linked to Facebook over the past five years, it’s no wonder police are looking for suspects or evidence on the site. Some law enforcement, such as Sheriff Al Lamberti, have found great success using Facebook to find criminals. Lamberti arrested the criminals who stole air conditioners in Florida after he posted photos of suspects on Facebook, which led to a tip.
The infographic below, created by the Criminal Justice Degrees Guide, shows 20 crimes that Facebook assisted or helped solve. The criminals either posted photo evidence or statuses about the criminal acts, or used Facebook to communicate about the criminal activity. The infographic shows several incidents in which Facebook cyberbullying, cyberstalking and relationship disputes have led to death.

Top Ten Tweaks in MS Window7

Top Ten Tweaks in MS Windows 7
In the sense of this topic and my belief, "tweaking" is doing something to make Windows work better, either by changing the "safe default" to something that utilizes the hardware more, turning some component on or, most frequently, turning some unwanted component off and or/deleting files/reg entries. While with OS-es up to XP I could get the job (of clean install + updates+ installing few most needed programs + calming down) done in 3 days, with 7 I'm satisfied and confident in the OS installation only after 3 weeks or more. Of course, that time will go down with experience, but it will never approach the time XP requires.
So here goes my list, from best to "less best, but still pretty good":
1. Install SSD - OK, I break my criterium with the first item, but I think it absolutely made most difference - on a 5400 laptop HDD, Windows 7 was unbearable, but even on a crappy first gen SSD it can be lived with. Other tweaks help, but this is the biggest quantum leap.
2. Use "Install Wim Tweak" / "DISM remove components" (Also pre-install "liters", of which I use Windows 7 Toolkit) - a great help to speed up cleaning, but of course, even though some dependencies are mapped, we're still a long way from a "safe" preset or list for everyone.
3. Turn off "Startup Event Trace Sessions" in "Computer Management -> performance -> Data Collector Sets" - The speeedup is noticeable immediately (OK, after reboot), at the expense of losing functionality that might or might not be needed.
4. Remove unneeded foreign language fonts - yeah, it still makes a big difference.
5. With the help of Sysinternals Autoruns and/or Nirsoft's ActiveXHelper, FileTypesMan, MimeView, RegDllView, ShellExtensionsView remove unnecessary things (Now you know why it takes me weeks to complete this.
6. Tweak services, of course.
7 Turn off IPv6 protocols (they are still not widely used today, but it might be needed someday). I noticed some speedup (maybe it's all in my head?).
8. Take ownership of files/reg keys - not a tweak in itself , but a skill that every Win7 tweaker must learn.
9. Plain old Reg tweaks - I can't really single out one or few that is/are most important and made most of the difference because there are simply too many of them (my XP tweaks folder is 300 KB, the new one for 7 is addidional 150 KB on top of that - many of the old ones still apply).
10 Boot tracing with Process Monitor - it's not the tracing that is important, it's deciphering and hunting for the undocumented registry entries that's fun for me. I strongly believe that it's better to "tell" windows what you want - leaving registry entries unpopulated is simply not an option for me. Of course, you have to find the default, which is not always easy to do or obvious, but it is still rewarding IMO.So, that's it. I hope this will bring some useful discussion.

American Crow
Posted on 22:45 by Unknown
American Crow
Crows and ravens belong in the Corvid family (which includes jays and magpies) and are considered to be among the most adaptable and intelligent birds.American Crows are familiar over much of the continent: large, intelligent, all-black birds with hoarse, cawing voices. They are common sights in treetops, fields, and roadsides, and in habitats ranging from open woods and empty beaches to town centers. They usually feed on the ground and eat almost anything typically earthworms, insects and other small animals, seeds, and fruit but also garbage, carrion, and chicks they rob from nests. Their flight style is unique; a patient, methodical flapping that is rarely broken up with glides. Crows are rarely found alone.
Cool Facts
1. American Crows congregate in large numbers in winter to sleep in communal roosts. These roosts can be of a few hundred up to two million crows. Some roosts have been forming in the same general area for well over 100 years. In the last few decades some of these roosts have moved into urban areas where the noise and mess cause conflicts with people.
2. Young American Crows do not breed until they are at least two years old, and most do not breed until they are four or more. In most populations the young help their parents raise young for a few years. Families may include up to 15 individuals and contain young from five different years.
3. The American Crow appears to be the biggest victim of West Nile virus, a disease recently introduced to North America. Crows die within one week of infection and few seem able to survive exposure. No other North American bird is dying at the same rate from the disease, and the loss of crows in some areas has been severe.
4. In some areas the American Crow has a double life. It maintains a territory year round in which the entire extended family lives and forages together; but during much of the year, individual crows leave the home territory to join large flocks at dumps and agricultural fields and to sleep in large roosts in winter. Family members go together to the flocks, but do not stay together in the crowd. A crow may spend part of the day at home with its family in town and the rest with a flock feeding on waste grain out in the country.
5. Despite its tendency to eat roadkill, the American Crow is not specialized to be a scavenger, and carrion is only a very small part of its diet. Though their bills are large, crows can’t break through the skin of even a gray squirrel. They must wait for something else to open a carcass or for the carcass to decompose and become tender enough to eat.
6. Crows are crafty foragers that sometimes follow adult birds to find where their nests are hidden. They sometimes steal food from other animals. A group of crows was seen distracting a river otter to steal its fish, and another group followed Common Mergansers to catch minnows the ducks were chasing into the shallows. They also sometimes follow songbirds as they arrive from a long migration flight and capture the exhausted birds. Crows also catch fish, eat from outdoor dog dishes, and take fruit from trees.
7. Crows sometimes make and use tools. Examples include a captive crow using a cup to carry water over to a bowl of dry mash; shaping a piece of wood and then sticking it into a hole in a fence post in search of food; and breaking off pieces of pine cone to drop on tree climbers near a nest.
8. The oldest recorded wild American Crow was 16 years old. A captive crow that died in New York lived to be 59 years old.
9. The size is nearly twice the size of a Blue Jay; about two-thirds the size of a Common Raven.
10. Crows are highly intelligent animals; not all people are smart enough to be crows! It‟s important to remember this, because controlling crows will involve multiple techniques. Crows will quickly adapt to control tactics and change their behavior to avoid them.
11. American Crows are black from their beak to their tail with a shiny violet/purple sheen. They are larger than a Fish crow.
12. They‛re very smart birds. They can solve puzzles, learn symbols, and remember information.
13. Nesting groups of crows share tasks, so one crow might serve as a guard while another finds food and another gives an alarm if a hawk or great horned owl approaches. They like to chase owls and hawks!
14. They‛re an omnivore eating everything including insects, snails, lizards, small mammals, bird eggs, young birds, corn, fruit, garbage, McDonalds French fries, and road kill.
15. Even though they are excellent detectives at finding where humans picnic, it‛s not healthy for them to eat our food. Help the crows by not feeding them our human food.
16. Crows are omnivorous and eat whatever is available insects, spiders, snails, fish, snakes, eggs, nestling birds, cultivated fruits, nuts, and vegetables. They also scavenge dead animals and garbage.
18. Crows are known to drop hard shelled nuts onto a street, and then wait for passing automobiles to crack them. Similarly, along the coast they drop mussels and other shellfish on rocks to crack the shells and expose the flesh.
19. Outside of the breeding season, crows travel as far as 40 miles each day from evening roost sites to daytime feeding areas.
20. Crows usually post “sentries,” who alert the feeding birds of danger.
21. Hawks and owls inhabit old crow nests; raccoons and tree squirrels use them as summer napping platforms.
22. Ravens can be distinguished from crows by their larger size, much larger bill, and long, wedge-shaped tail . In addition, a raven’s flight pattern commonly includes soaring or gliding, while crows have a frequent steady, “rowing” wing-beat with little or no gliding.

9 Tips to Improve Moral Value in Kids

9 Tips to Improve Moral Value in Kids
To any kid, his/her parents are the sources for the way he/she behaves and builds their character. Remember, Home is the first and the best place to raise a child. Children get influenced very easily in their tender ages and it is here that they have to be properly guided to develop good moral values and maintain a good character. For this, devoting sufficient time to your children is very essential.
Here are 9 good tips to impart moral values in your children,
1. Be Positive About Your Kid - How important is it for you to raise a moral child? It's a crucial question to ask, because research finds that parents who feel strongly about their kids turning out morally usually succeed because they committed themselves to that effort. If you really want to raise a moral child, then make a personal commitment to raise one, and don't stop until he does.
2. Set a Strong Moral Example - Parents are children's first and most powerful teachers. Make sure you set yourself into moral lines and show that you have moral values to your kid. You should make your child to get the feeling that you are a good person who behaves properly with good moral values. Here you also have to make sure that he doesn't catch any bad behavior from you or any other person.
3. Share Your Beliefs - Take time to know what you want your child to learn. After you've done that, share your thoughts with them and tell them why you feel good about them. Remember, your child will always hear counters against your beliefs, so make sure you impart them and be strong about them when you tell him/her. Some examples would be, the TV programmes you watch, movies, music you listen to, literature etc.
4. Teachable Moments - They usually come unexpectedly and not when you plan for them, say dinner. Teaching them at the moment, when they are a part of the scenario will have a greater impact. Some examples would be, when they play, use the bathroom etc.
5. Teach them Discipline - Discipline is very essential if you plan to impart any moral values in your kid. Use discipline to teach why they were wrong and what they should be doing the next time it happens.
6. Expect Moral Behavior - By now, Your kid should be acting in moral lines and you must actually expect him/her to do so. If he/she is crossing the line, then be a bit strict in reinforcing it and warn them of what would happen if it happens often. Don't be very harsh though!
7. Study their Behavior's Effects - Researchers tell us one of the best moral-building practices is to point out the impact of the child's behavior on the other person. Doing so enhances a child's moral growth: ("See, you made her cry") or highlight the victim's feeling ("Now he feels bad"). The trick is to help to help the child really imagine what it would be like to be in the victim's place so she will be more sensitive to how her behavior impacts others.
8. Prioritize Morals Daily - Kids don't learn how to be moral from reading about it in textbooks but from doing good deeds. Encourage your child to lend a hand to make a difference in his world, and always help him recognize the positive effect the gesture had on the recipient. The real goal is for kids to become less and less dependent on adult guidance by incorporating moral principles into their daily lives and making them their own. That can happen only if parents emphasize the importance of the virtues over and over and their kids repeatedly practice those moral behaviors.
9. Follow the Golden Rules - "Treat others the way you want them to treat you" and "Give Respect, Take Respect". Definitely helps!
