Posted on 05:46 by Unknown
Top 10 Ways to Promote Your Blog
Blogs are a very popular outlet for Internet marketing? they are easy to start up and easy to keep up, they’re also a free medium to advertise products and ideas with content. Blogs are popular because readers get to participate in the conversation about niche markets and aren’t as formal as sales pages and website pages. Once you have a blog up and running, you need to promote it to get traffic to your blog? we won’t go into what you should have in your blog (compelling, interesting and informative articles/copy that engages the reader and creates a dialogue), but we will look at the top 10 ways to promote your blog and get the traffic that you need.

1. Social Bookmarking Sites
Sites such as Digg and Delicious grab traffic and have it head right for your blog. These are quite easy to use (so long as you don’t vote for yourself)?. Create a free account, write a description, add tags and the address to your blog, and voila! - With compelling headlines and descriptions, you can quickly gain traffic to your blog.

2. Visiting Forums
Visiting forums in your niche market is nearly as old as the Internet itself?.But this works and it’s free. Participate in the forums with relevant (and compelling) information that leads to what your blog is all about. Having a great signature line with a link to your blog is the key.

3. Free eBooks
Writing and offering free eBooks will also bring traffic to your website. Your eBook should be compelling, well written and chock full of useful information (otherwise, no one will visit your blog, thinking you’re nothing real to say anyway).

4. Join Groups
Look at MSN, Yahoo and Google groups and find some that are relevant to your niche. Don’t spam them ? Enjoy the conversation and ease into it.

5. Video it
Create a video (or hire someone to do it) then submit it to one of the many popular video sites (such as YouTube) and find more traffic being directed to your site. It’s not a secret that video sites are incredibly popular and that this popularity is only growing each and every day ?so get in on the action, create a compelling video and get more traffic to your blog.

6. Update Regularly
Updating your blog regularly is very important. You have to continue updating with relevant information that is interesting and leads to more information yet to come. This will bring people back to your blog time and time again.

7. Blog Directories
This is very simple ?submit your blog to blog directories for backlinks and new potential readers. Although most blog directories will require a link back from your blog, it may not have to be permanent. Here are a few of the most popular blog directories you should submit to:
BlogCatalog
Blog Flux Directory
BlogHub

8. Really Simple Syndication (RSS)
RSS feeds are also incredibly popular and this allows your loyal readers to know when you’re updated your blog (which should be often and regularly). It’s quite easy to RSS your blog and this allows your readers to know when you’re posted more information that they want to read.

9. RSS Directories
Don’t forget, now that you’re syndicated your blog, to submit to RSS directories as well.

10. SEO your Blog
The most importnat, SEOing your blog will lead to receiving completely free traffic from search engines. The main things you need to do is make sure your markup is error-free, and you’re using headings, such as,and’s, the most important three. You should also link to your homepage with the appropriate anchor text. You should try and get as many quality backlinks as you can to help this along.

Is Your Mobile Original?

Posted on 06:21 by Unknown
Is Your Mobile Original?

Now-a-days, a consumer has to take care of a lot of things while buying a new mobile phone. Everyone owning a mobile phone might be in doubt whether their mobile phone is original or not, in the wake of many of the past issues in which fake mobile phones were a topic of discussion. Hence, it would be really useful if a person could have an easy way of knowing whether the mobile phone owned by him or her is original or not.It was then that I came across an easy way to identify the genuinity of mobile phones. And so, I am sharing it with you here.

1. Type *#06# in your mobile phone. After you enter the last hash (#), the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number (a unique 15-digit number) of your mobile phone will appear on the screen.

2. The next step is to note the 7th and 8th digits of your mobile phone's IMEI number.

3. If the 7th and 8th numbers together read 02 or 20, it means that it was manufactured in the Emirates, and hence is of very bad quality!

4. If the 7th and 8th numbers together read 08 or 80, it means that it was manufactured in Germany, and hence is not so bad!

5. If the 7th and 8th numbers together read 01 or 10, it means that it was manufactured in Finland, which means that the mobile is of somewhat good quality!

6. If the 7th and 8th numbers together read 00, it means that it was manufactured in the original factory, which has the best quality!

7. If the 7th and 8th numbers together read 13, it means that it was manufactured in Azerbaijan, which means that the mobile is of very bad quality and hence is very dangerous for health!

Find out How Healthy Your Battery is on Your Laptop
Windows 8 has a feature through which we can find out exactly how much battery you are actually getting from your Laptop battery, i.e. its efficiency, maximum charge potential.  It's a well-known fact that as the age of lithium battery increases its charging capacity decreases and it won't charge to its full potential as when it's new. We can find out exactly how much the battery of laptop is giving now. We can use the powercfg -energy to find out how health your battery is.
1. When you are in the Metro UI, start typing "cmd". It will automatically go in to search mode and will search for what you typed (cmd).
2. Type "powercfg –energy" into the command prompt & press Enter.
3. The command enables tracing for 60 seconds & would collect all the data after observing the system behavior.
4. After analysis it would generate a report.
5. The energy report is generated in HTML format in the directory shown in the command prompt.
Cmd Prompt Address\energy-report.html by default.

How TO Prevent Your USB Devices From Getting Infected?

Posted on 23:44 by Unknown
How TO Prevent Your USB Devices From Getting Infected?
Source: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en
Question: How can you protect USB devices like sticks or drives from being infected with computer viruses?
Some users are lucky enough to have USB devices that have write protection switches, just like floppy drives had back in the good old days. They just need to pull the switch to write protect their devices.

Modern USB devices on the other hand do not ship with write protection switches anymore, which means that other solutions need to be discovered that work equally well.

What if you’d fill the storage on the USB device to the brim? That’s what USB Dummy Protect does. The idea is simple. You create a fake file that takes up all free space on the device. With no space left on the drive, viruses cannot write on it which means that they are blocked and cannot replicate.

The software is fully portable and needs to be placed on the USB device. You can run the program on any computer system that runs the Windows operating system.

USB Dummy Protect detects the free size on the device directly after it has been started, and begins to write a dummy file of the same size to the drive. The file name is always dummy.file.

If you need space to store files on the drive, you need to remove the dummy file first, copy or move the new files to the drive, and run USB Dummy Protect again to fill the remaining free space again with a dummy file.

The protection is basic, and advanced viruses may be able to circumvent it, for instance by deleting files on the stick to free up space before writing to the stick.

Still, USB Dummy Protect is relatively comfortable to use, especially since it is always located on the USB drive so that it can be used to write a new file whenever that is necessary.

The software worked fine on a 64-bit Windows 7 Pro test system. The developer notes that it only works on USB devices of up to 4 Gigabytes if they use the FAT file system.

You can download USB Dummy Protect from the project homepage at Google Code. http://code.google.com/p/usbdummyprotect/
Softpedia:
http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/UsbDummyProtect-Download-172266.html
USBDummyProtect is a freeware which does the same thing - Provides protection to your USB drive.

Once copied into your USB drive and  run the program, it fills up the remaining space in your drive. Suppose you have a 4 GB pen drive and you have a small file in it and you want to put your drive in a computer which you know is definitely affected by viruses.  You just run the USBDummyProtect and it will make a dummy file and consume all the remaining space in the drive.  Now, since the drive is full, no viruses can copy itself into it.  When you bring back your drive, you can again run the USBDummyProtect and it will clear the dummy file and make room for you.

MEANING OF MOLES And BIRTH-MARKS ON YOUR BODY

Posted on 20:04 by Unknown
MEANING OF MOLES And BIRTH-MARKS ON YOUR BODY
The interpretation of moles and birth-marks depends upon two factors: their actual physical appearance, and the part of the subject's body upon which they appear. Did you know that a mole on either of your cheeks could classify you as serious, studious and solemn? The study of moles is called Moleosophy.

The location of a mole, its size, shape and colour can be interpreted as indicators of your character, as well as generalities for the future. Twin moles could have yet another connotation. Moleosophy, when co-related with interpretations of other psychic sciences, substantiates personality and character readings, and provides a complete view of the subject.

Interpreting moles based on their location.
Location Interpretation

Arms:Moles on the arms indicate that the person is polite, diligent and will lead a happy married life.If mole is near the elbow, the man will need to struggle in life, and might also become a young widower. If the woman has the same characteristics, however, her problems relate to her occupation.

Armpits:A mole under the left arm is indicative of great struggle early in life, which is, however, well rewarded. Wealth makes later years equally pleasurable. A mole under the right arm shows that one needs to be alert and cautious in matters of security.

Back:People like this are unreliable, and with them one must ensure that all facts are available before one enters any sort of negotiation for any enterprise.

Breast:A mole on the right breast is indicative of laziness, which may affect family life. You need to be assertive about your needs to be able to enjoy the love and comfort of the children. A mole on the left breast  belongs to active and energetic people, who generally get what they want in life.

Buttocks:People who have a mole on their buttocks are UN-ambitious, and will be reconciled to any mode of living.

Cheek:A mole on either cheek indicates a serious and studious person who has no interest in material pleasures.

Chin:A mole on either side of the chin is indicative of people who are affectionate and caring. These people adapt easily to any situation. They love travelling and respect the law of the land. They are also dedicated and conscientious workers and willingly accept responsibilities.Foretells a happy and fortunate marriage; the nearer to the mouth it is located, the greater will be the wealth and good fortune brought to the person by their spouse. The lucky possessor of a mole on this part of the body will never face poverty or anxiety. Is an omen that warns of many difficulties in achieving fortune and success. Courage, perseverance, and a firm will are needed in the many struggles that can fall to the person. Those who possess these qualities in a good manner stand a good chance of winning these battles and build up a good career; but weaker and less sure persons will be more apt to "go under" as fate is against them.

Ear:People who are born with a mole on their ear are generally considered lucky.

Elbow:People who have moles on their elbow love to travel. They are adventurous and spirited.

Eye:If the mole is located on the outer corner of the eye, this indicates that the person is honest, reliable and forthright.

Eyebrow:If a mole is located on the right eyebrow, it signifies that these people will have a highly active life and will be successful in all ventures.

Finger:People who have a mole on any finger turn out to be dishonest and tend to grossly exaggerate.

Foot:People with a mole on their foot are easy going and laid back. They need to exercise to stay healthy.A mole on the right foot shows a great love of travel, if the same person has a mole on the left foot as well, it is a sign that they will also be able to indulge in this love. A mole on the left foot alone reveals a quick intellect and well-developed sense of thought.

Forehead:People who have a mole on their forehead will be prosperous and well settled in life.Thought to be a mark of outstanding ability and mental power, which will help the person to prosper. Traveling is also indicated.

Left Side:Is said to foretell that person will have little to no clue about the value of money, and is likely to be found in a state of monetarily over-extending themselves due to their own knack for squandering and extravagance.

Middle:Said to have great successes in affairs of the heart. A woman with this mark will count her admirers by the dozen; the man will have the finesse of a Don Juan.

Hand:Those people who have a mole on their hand are talented and make a success of their lives.

Heel:People who possess a mole on their heel make enemies easily and are prone to losing friends.

Hip:A mole on any part of the hip except the buttocks signifies that these people are contented, resilient and spirited.

Jaw:To have a mole on either side of the jaw is an unlucky sign, revealing weak health and resulting in a hampered career. The omen is more inauspicious if the mole is on the left hand side

Knee:If you have a mole on your right knee, it implies that you are a friendly person. A mole on the left knee signifies that these people lead an extravagant lifestyle.

Lips:People with a mole on their lips always aspire to get ahead in life.On either lip, a mole foretells of a pleasant, upbeat personality combined with a hint of sensuality and indolence. Those who have a mole so placed are fond of the good things in life and often turn deaf ear to duty if it conflicts with this pursuit of pleasure. They are ardent lovers and yet their constancy is not above reproach. If the mole is large and located on the lower lip, this omen has a more sensual significance; the women are thought to be heartless flirts and the men not any better. If the mole is on the upper lip, greater delicacy is revealed although the nature of the person is sensual, it is modified and controlled by refinement and good taste.

Naval:A man who has a mole on his navel will be lucky in life and a woman who has the same desires children.

Neck:If the mole is on the front of the neck, it signifies unexpected good fortune. If it is on either side of the neck, it indicates an unreasonable temperament. A mole on the back of the neck indicates a person's desire to lead a simple life.

Nipple:If a man has a mole on his nipple, it indicates a fickle nature. If a woman has a mole on her nipple, it indicates that she is striving for social status.

Nose:A mole on the nose belongs to a person who will be a sincere friend and a hard-working individual.A very lucky sign, for these folks will enjoy success and prosperity, and practically every undertaking will have a satisfactory outcome. Wide traveling and frequent change of scenery is there. A mole on the side of the nose (especially in women) often gives a voluptuous temperament.

Right Knee:Happy marriage, the wedded life will pass easily and smoothly; unhampered by monetary problems or serious stresses.

Left Knee:Be more inclined to act without forethought and will often have cause to regret this reckless attitude. At heart, though, will be upright and kindly and possess a sympathetic nature.

Leg:Mole on any part of either leg between the knee and ankle areas shows a careless andindolent nature; a person who possesses a mole in this area will most likely be selfish, lazy, and lacking sympathy towards others.

Ribs side:Weak, cowardly disposition is revealed by a mole on the right side of the ribs. Those who have this mark so placed will be indolent, lacking in intelligence and delicacy, and of a bullish nature. If the mole is on the left hand side, these characteristics will be modified to some extent and tempered with a touch of good humour.

Shoulder:A mole on the right shoulder indicates a sensible, industrious individual.

Significance of Twin Moles
When there are twin moles irrespective of their location, the person possesses a dual nature. The presence of two moles, side by side, is indicative of a person being in love with two people.

Significance of shapes in Moles
(a) Round: A round mole signifies the goodness in people.
(b) Oblong: An oblong mole depicts a modest share of acquired wealth.
(c) Angular:An angular mole suggests that the individual has both positive and negative characteristics.

Significance of Moles based on colour
(a) Light Coloured Moles:Those who have light coloured moles are considered lucky.
(b) Black Moles:This denotes that a person would have to surmount obstacles in order to achieve the desired results.

Thigh:A mole on the thigh gives a warm, enthusiastic temperament. Mole on the right thigh denotes prosperity and a happy marriage. Mole on the left thigh is a warning of loss of money, injustice and loneliness; the warmth and frankness of their personality will be met with many rebuffs. It is a very common occurrence that a mole on the thigh is also accompanied by one on the ear.

Throat: A mole on the throat or on the front of the neck is a fortunate sign denoting of a wealthy marriage or successful career.

Wrist:Person having a mole on either right or left wrist will have a very interesting and successful career. Their own intelligence and the talents they are blessed with are valuable assets and will generally ensure them of success and happiness in life.A mole on the wrist indicates that the person is frugal, ingenious and dependable.

How to Rewire Your Brain

Posted on 22:16 by Unknown
How to Rewire Your Brain

Think Your Way to a Better Life
Humankind has always been fascinated by the power of the mind, and indeed the limits are most likely never to be known. Just imagine if it were possible to turn your greatest weakness into your greatest strength. If you could rewire your brain to reverse ingrained personality traits from procrastination to pessimism and improve everything from your memory to your grasp of foreign languages. Well, not only do neuroscientists now believe this is possible, but they can show us how. A great deal of attention has been paid to the extent at which our brains can perform, and the untapped possibilities within. It is known; however that there is a direct connection between our thoughts and our actions.

Here's how to increase your ability to change:

1. Be rigorously honest with yourself. You can only make changes when you accept yourself as you are.

2. Acknowledge that you are who you choose to be, not who you were yesterday.

3. Know that it takes about 14 days to begin to form a lasting habit. Those first two to three weeks are the hardest, physically and emotionally. Give yourself the time.

4. Write your life story. Literally. Explain why you are the way you are, and how and why you continue to convince yourself you can't change.

5. Write the truth about why you haven't made changes and what changes are possible. Be honest. Take care to evaluate the way you use language. If you find yourself phrasing statements in the negative - like "I can't" or "It's too hard" - consider how to rephrase these statements as things you can do and that are easier for you to stick with.

6. List the life values most important to you, and explore your purpose in life. Do your habits align with these values and mission? If they don't, you'll likely experience stress.

7. Now write the story of who you want to be. The truth is, people have tremendous capability to change. Write down what it will take to get you to make those changes. What will success look and feel like? How will you measure successes along the way?

8. Write down how you might undermine these goals. What should you do to avoid these pitfalls? The most common are 1) rationalizing, 2) denial and 3) minimizing the truth.

9. Announce the changes you plan to make. Ask for the help and support you need from friends and family or from medical professionals. Your commitment will be much more powerful if you do.

10. After six weeks, recognize that you'll probably miss the benefits of your new habit if you stop.
11. Celebrate milestones along the way!

How to improve your communication skills

Posted on 09:12 by Unknown
How to improve your communication skills

Importance of Communication skills’ covers in detail the basics of different types of communications and their overall importance.

1. Now, communications - the ability to share and exchange ideas and thoughts - consist of a wide range of skills. For example, you cannot be a good communicator just by being a better speaker, or just by being a good listener.

2. And, if the exchange is not in your mother tongue (the first language) - such as some one from India in USA - it takes some extra efforts to be good at this. Here are some of the main areas to consider for improving your communications skills:

3. Know what you are talking about: A communications or an exchange of ideas or the conversation is hollow and empty if it has no substance. Knowledge of the topic of discussion helps with a meaningful discourse. And, if it is just a friendly ‘chat about nothing’ - the small talk - that can also be improved, just read on!

4. Be a good listener: Listening is the first and foremost part of the communication. It helps with understanding the topic of discussion (‘Know what you are talking about’ ). A good listener also earns the respect of the speaker and is always in-tune with the discussion.

5. Improve verbal communications: Along with listening skills, equally important is the ability to deliver the message - the talking part. A good command of the language, a good vocabulary and ability to effectively speak are the desired attributes for being good at verbal communication. Those with mother-tongue (the first language) is different than the communication language often struggle in this sector.

6. Make a small talk: Small talk matters. Small talk is the art of chitchat - talking about ‘nothing’. The small talk warms up the conversation; it can set up the mood of the discussion.

7. Make a good first impression:  The first impression plays a big role in setting up the tone of the conversation.

8. Body Language:The Body language, combined with small talk sits the mood and tone of the conversation. Smiling, confident hand gestures, good eye-contact (not staring)….help with making a friendly and effective discussion. In some culture -like in India - the body distance is much less; people are more touchy and feely. However, same may not apply everywhere. In most western countries, people like their pace and they like to keep a bit distance during the communication. You can also practice body language in front of a mirror -practice what you want others to see in your body language.

9. Read and write:Written communications are very important in business and work environment. Email and texting has become a key part of day-to-day life. To improve written communication skills for business or work, practice reading and writing. Double-check your writing; re-write if needed and check for spelling errors etc. For the informal written communications - e.g. emailing and texting with friends and family, - just go with the flow; use the format of informal chat.

10. Witty, current and meaningful: Dry and very formal communication is often not that effective. Given the occasion, be witty and meaningful in your comments. Add some humor if the occasion demands lightening up the mood. Also, don’t sound outdated in your written or verbal communications; be current and up-to-date. The art of small talk can also help in this area.

11. Feedback: To improve these communication skills, pay attention to the feedback from others - the listeners, friends, colleagues. It could be direct verbal feedback - comments or suggestions, - or written feedback in a formal settings. The indirect feedback may includes facial expression or body language of the listeners. Adjust the communication - enhance or tone down etc. - based on the feedback.

12. Practice, practice and practice: Yes, practice as much as possible. You can certainly improve your communication skills by making a conscious effort to practice the steps above. It always feels good when you connect with others, when they understand you and know what you are talking about!

Windows Mango vs Android : Which is the best os for your Smartphone

Posted on 06:00 by Unknown
Windows Mango vs Android : Which is the best os for your Smartphone

A lot of times I come across people who think a phone is a smartphone only if it is powered by Android. Any one having a WP (windows phone) has supposedly wasted his hard earned money. So is this the case? Before we come to any conclusions let us first understand what an OS on a phone means.

Just like your computer a phone also requires a platform to run. An ecosystem is required on which you can install any application or play your favorite games like Angry birds. What windows(xp,vista, 7 or 8) is to a laptop or pc, Android or Windows(mango is the latest version) are to a smartphone. These are the basic software on which any additional software can run. So the question is why has two different OS when they basically do the same thing?

Well for one having a choice is always good. Just because some prefer chrome over Firefox doesn't mean Firefox shouldn't exist. Every one has a different taste and while Android may suite to some not all may find it similarly pretty or useful. Though Windows and Android basically do the same thing they do it in a totally different way. Some users may find tile system on the windows appealing while others may prefer the customization on Android.

Android
Android has been in the market for quite a while now and Google has made has proved that their little monster is not only here to stay but to dominate. One can find a slew of Android powered phones in the market from various manufacturers like Samsung, Sony, LG, HTC. So what makes Android so special?

Well the number of applications you can find on Google market( the online store where you download your apps from) is one of the major reason for the success of this platform. There are over 400000 apps available on the market( though you probably wouldn't download more than 100-150 of those but still its good to have a choice). One can find apps for anything from getting latest stock updates to monitoring your heart beat(not sure if it gives accurate results).

The problem with Android is fragmentation. Presently there are phones with Gingerbread, Ice cream Sandwich or Froyo available in the market. Every version of the android is named after a dessert. Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) is the latest version available. One can still find phones Gingerbread (Android 2.3, the predecessor to Ice Cream Sandwich on phones). It is all good as long as you get the lastest and greatest version of the software on your phone. But usually the manufacturers drop support after one or two updates and you are left with an older version on your phone that makes it somewhat obsolete.

Windows Phone

Windows is relatively a new comer to the market. The number of devices available with Windows are relatively less as of now but with Nokia joining the bandwagon recently this number is only going to increase in the future. The greatest difference between Android and Windows is the interface. While the Android offers the conventional interface with round icons and widgets, the Metro interface on the Windows uses live tiles as icons.

It is a breeze of fresh air from the conventional system and many may find it appealing. The core idea is to make things simple and provide live feed on the tiles rather than having to open them individually. Social media like facebook and twitter come intergrated out of the box.

Windows has got its own marketplace. Though the number of applications aren't anywhere close to that on Android; Microsoft & Nokia are personally taking care of that. Presently there are around 70000 apps available to choose from and that number is definitely gonna increase in the near future.

Now the big question comes what to choose? Both OSes have their own pros and cons.

Android
Pros

1. Number of applications
2. Customization
3. Internet tethering (sharing) over wifi or usb
4. Removable battery and Sd card support
5. More number of devices available to choose from

Cons

1. Due to a large number of devices available some application may be incompatible on some phones
2. Fragmentation( you can never be sure whether your phone will get the next version of the os or not)
3. Poor battery life

Windows Mango
Pros

1. Facebook and twitter integration
2. More fluid and responsive than Android
3. Multitasking
4. Social gaming on xbox live account
5. Simple user interface

Cons

1. No external sd card support(though windows phones come with 8-16 gb of inbuilt memory)
2. Bluetooth file sharing only with other windows phones
3. No internet tethering (an update to fix this problem promised by Nokia though)
4. File sharing with pc requires Zune

Bottom line being it all depends on your own preference. Both OS have their pros and cons. While there are a lot of sites and a lot of people on the forums over the web who will defend on one OS or another, the truth is both of them are equally good. If you already have an Android tablet or you are looking for an upgrade from your old android phone, Windows mango can provide you with that fresh change. For users who are getting their first smartphone it depends on what you want. Even though windows doesnt support dual core processors, that is because it doesn't need them. It is equally(or probably more) fluid and responsive on a single core as Android on a multicore.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR LAPTOP IN 15 EASY WAYS

Posted on 06:42 by Unknown

TAKE CARE OF YOUR LAPTOP IN 15 EASY WAYS
Source:  http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/deed.en
Taking care of your laptop is one of the most important things you should know. You would want to take advantage of its full life, don’t you? It might have cost you quite a bit out of your pocket so it is just proper that you’d do everything to take care of it and maintain its good health. Here’s what every laptop owners should do to protect and extend its life.
1. Do not eat and drink while you’re in front of your laptop. Spilled liquids and fallen food crumbs and bits can easily damage the sensitive circuitry inside.

2. Do not touch the LCD screen. Close the lid gently by holding it with both hands when shutting it off. This is to avoid breaking it. It is also important to clean your monitor with approved cleaning materials only. Screen repairs don't come in real cheap so you may want to make sure the monitor is taken cared of properly.

3. Keep its temperature cooler by installing a laptop cooler or chill mat to reduce its operating temperature.

4. A laptop’s battery is like human muscles - if you don’t exercise it, it’d become useless. Use your laptop's battery until it tells you to recharge. At least once a week unplug it from the wall and let it run on battery power. This will make the battery life lasts much longer.

5. Do not let it run for straight two days, even on powerful laptops. Laptops can get very hot and leaving it on for a longer period of time may cause overheating. It is advisable to install software that automatically puts your laptop in a sleep or hibernate mode or even shut it down after a period of inactivity.

6. If you need to move and take your laptop more than a few feet away, shut it down or put it to sleep
before moving on. Do not walk with your laptop on because you are risking the hard drive with every stumble, stump, or jar you make.

7. Don't close anything inside your laptop. There is a little clearance between the screen and the keyboard and even a couple sheets of paper can put stress onto the screen. Also, avoid putting heavy objects on top of your laptop. These careless actions can damage and break the screen.

8. Always use the laptop carrying bag given by the company gave you to reduce the risk of breaks because of laptop being bumped to or dropped accidentally.

9. Cover your laptop, and also your keyboard, when you’re not using it, e.g. with a simple cloth, to protect it from dust, especially in dry and dusty areas.  However don’t forget to turn of the power first!  You can clean the keyboard from time to time with a little airpump.

10. Finally guard its health by using antivirus software and firewall.  Keep the installed antivirus updated. Your internet-connected laptop is always at risk of being infected with viruses, so you may want to take the necessary precautions. Data loss because of viruses can give you headaches.

11. Treat the laptop like you would your wallet. Don’t leave it lying around. Avoid leaving it in the car, or if you must, lock it in the boot.

12. Be sure nothing is stacked or thrown on top of the laptop.

13. Put the laptop on a solid surface if you are using it for a long time. Resting it on a pillow or other soft material might block the airflow vents and cause it to overheat.

14. Recharge the battery each night. While charging, place it on a hard surface like the dining table or kitchen bench. Don’t charge it near water.

15. Unplug the laptop if there’s an electrical storm.

How To Increase Your I.Q

Posted on 04:48 by Unknown

How To Increase Your I.Q
Source:https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en
Curious about your IQ or intelligence quotient?  There are so many different IQ tests that you can take online. They shall provide you with varying questions and some really takes too hard to answer while some are just easy and comprehensible. Have you ever wondered where this IQ thing originated? Well, to give you an idea, the “IQ” term was coined during 1912 by William Stern, a German psychologist. This was formulated as a method to measure children’s’ intelligence.

You may not realize it that much but IQ is very vital both on a personal and professional standpoint. When it comes to the process of recruitment of companies, your IQ definitely can play an advantageous part when you apply. The higher your IQ level, the better the chance for you to answer random questions and analyze different situations. There are different practices that you can do in order to stretch your mental muscles.
Below are some techniques to help increase you’re I.Q:

1. Education is Key. If you are still studying, make sure that you get the best education that you can have. If not, then try to develop different hobbies that you can do daily to flex your mind. Solve logic problems, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Learning each day even just a single new thing can be vital to widen your knowledge.

2. Watch What You Eat. You might think about how does eating affect my IQ? Well, the answer is that if you maintain a balanced diet, your brain chemistry becomes more stabilized and you will be able to think in a more efficient manner. It has been said that there are some foods that can help increase brain wave speed. Eat on a regular basis; it keeps your mind active.

3. Don’t Drink Too Much Alcohol. Dying brain cells can be caused by excessive alcohol consumption. When these brain cells die, they shall never grow back. If you need to watch what you eat, you also need to watch what you drink. Keep in mind that your brain functions much better when you are on the right state of mind.

4. Classical Music. Different studies have indicated that listening to classical music can help improve the brain’s spatial IQ. Though this is still controversial, listening to this type of music won’t make you stupid as well. It can probably help in providing a relaxed atmosphere for your brain.

5. Sleep Appropriately. Provide your brain with 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night. It can help the brain become more organized. The brain is more active when asleep, according to studies, it processes short-term memories and files them for long term storage.

6. Challenge Your Mind. Try to regularly test yourself by solving different situations. Ask “what if?” Be more curious and more analytical of everything that you do. This can assist in turning your lazy mind into a more active one. The more it is active, the more you can handle and find solutions on different questions or situations.

7.  Write .When you write down your thoughts, it can be a great tool for you to reflect and make decisions. Some people use journals to write down their thoughts, others have simple notepads or notebooks. Simply writing what you think and feel can help you have a new perspective when you go back and read those words.

8.  Meditate .As already stated, you can significantly boost your IQ through meditation. It may not seem logical, that you could boost your IQ by thinking about nothing at all, but it does help you bridge a connection from your conscious to your subconscious mind. And the subconscious stores every bit of data of our lives. Nothing is lost to the subconscious.

9.  Be active .If you’re not already active, start a regular exercise routine. Having a healthy body also affects the mind.

10. Have Hobbies .Have a regular routine of doing things you love to do, whether it’s fishing, bowling, bicycling, knitting, or reading a mystery novel. The more fun and passion you experience, the easier it will be to process and assimilate new information.

These techniques can definitely help you boost your IQ, no matter who you are.

9 Steps to help in keeping your organization Secure

Posted on 01:09 by Unknown

9 Steps to help in keeping your organization Secure

The following are a few Anti-Hacking tips that will help in keeping your systems secure.

1. Install Anti-Virus software and ensure that it’s regularly updated.(If you do only one thing to help protect the safety of your computing environment, always take prompt advantage of software updates).

2. Anti-virus software isn’t enough – it’s also a good idea to install firewall (Good fences make good neighbors) software which will help prevent unauthorized incoming and outgoing communications from your computer while connected to the Internet.

3. Passwords protect the settings on the software so no-one else can alter protection levels. Most anti-virus programs also offer some protection against Trojans, which aren’t actually a virus, but a small program that allows others to control your computer.

4. Turn off your preview window in your email program. Some viruses, called worms, can infect your system without you clicking on attachments – just by you having your preview window open. Some worms can cause your sensitive information and documents to be transmitted to millions of people. Be very cautious in opening attachments, even if it appears to come from someone you know – their system may be infected.

5. Disconnect your computer from the Internet when not in use. The longer you are connected to the Internet, the more opportunity you give for persons to gain unauthorized access.

6. If your computer is used by others, carry out regular examination of the software on it and research any software that you discover that you haven’t installed yourself. It’s safest to make it a policy not to allow any software to be installed without your permission.

7. If you must store usernames and passwords on your system, ensure they are contained in a document that is password protected. It is safest not to store any passwords on your computer. Don’t let Windows “remember” passwords for you. Passwords should always be more than 8 characters long and include upper and lower case letters, numerals, symbols.

8. Ensure that you log out of online services properly. Failure to do so can allow others who use your computer to gain access to those services and you can be blamed for their activities.

9. Back up your files and store them away from your computer. Frequent backups just make good sense. The more virulent types of attacks damage or infect your hard drive and you can lose valuable personal information. By backing up your data weekly you can help protect your important files, computer settings, and irreplaceable digital media.

Scan your Computer with online antivirus
So it seems difficult for you to uninstall your favorite antivirus program and install a new one, as two antivirus can not work simultaneously efficiently on a single machine, therefore you can opt for an another alternative that is to check your computer online for viruses. In this post i will tell you a lot of popular and free online virus scanner that you can use to get rid of viruses/spywares and malwares etc...

Sometimes your antivirus does not uninstall and your resident antivirus may malfunction .Even you have a resident scanner effective scan is required to combat the threat of virus. The undermentioned online scanners will protect from virus.

An online virus scanner should never be considered a substitute for an installed antivirus scanner. But if you suspect your installed antivirus is missing a threat or you simply want a second opinion, an online scanner can be a valuable adjunct to security. Each of the following online scanners are considered best-of-breed and can offer important adjunct protection.

1. Norton Security Check Scan Now!http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp

2. One Care Scan Now!
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-US/center/howsafe.htm

3. Kaspersky Scan Now!

http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Kaspersky Online Scan service doesn't allow neither removal nor healing of detected infections, my suggestion is that you use some other scanner to eliminate present malware. However, I myself use Kasperksy to verify the clean state of the system. Two scans are always better than one, don't you agree? ;) And Kaspersky is important because it is the only PC security scanner developed by Russian programmers, so its algorithms are very much unique.

4. McAfee Antivirus Scan Now!
http://home.mcafee.com/Downloads/FreeScan.aspx?ctst=1

5. Bit Defender Scan Now!

http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

6. Eset NOD32 Scan Now!

http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

7. Avast Online Scanner Scan Now!

http://onlinescan.avast.com/

8. Panda Security Scan Now!
http://www.pandasecurity.com/usa/homeusers/solutions/activescan/default.htm?track=80383
“Panda” scanner will save us from popular viruses. Another good thing is that it scans our e-mail too. But on the other hand, this scanner doesn’t perfectly detect Trojans and backdoors.

9. Trend Micro Housecall!

http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
If you are being attacked by popular viruses, than you need to scan your PC with Trend Micro Housecall. This scanner easily finds and kills popular viruses. But on the other hand, rare viruses usually aren't found by “Housecall” and Trojan horses escape too. “Rootkits” has even bigger chance to hide from this program.

10. Computer Associates Scan Now!
http://www.ca.com/us/securityadvisor/virusinfo/scan.aspx

11. Virus Total
http://www.virustotal.com/

12. F-Secure Online Virus Scanner
http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml

The following online scanners were tested
F-Secure, Trend Micro, Symantec, Panda, BitDefender and Windows Defender scanners were tested.

Which one is the best?
No virus will survive against BitDefender. Program perfectly kills viruses, Trojan horses and backdoor programs. Spyware and rootkits has a better chance to hide from BitDefender, that’s why I also recommend scanning your PC with an anti-spyware.You should use Internet Explorer, because other browsers are not supported. If you are using Firefox 19, you can install an extension, which is called “IE tab”. It will make BitDefender think, that you are using IE.

13. Dr.Web Online Scanner
http://online.drweb.com/

DrWeb is another PC security product from Russia. The desktop version of DrWeb is very popular in Russia and CIS countries - and there must be serious reasons for that. DrWeb offers to scan single files - the webpage is as simple as possible, there's nothing on it except the "browse" button to specify the path to the target file.

14. a-squared malware web scanner

It's been a couple of months since EMSISOFT updated it's desktop a-squared anti-malware to version 4.0, and now the company decided to join the army of online virus scanners!a-squared web malware scanner offers anyone to check computers for Trojan Viruses, Worms, Backdoors, Rootkits, Spyware/Adware, Keyloggers, Dialers, Hacking Tools, Riskware and TrackingCookies. All you need to run this tool is Internet Explorer with ActiveX enabled and a stable Internet connection.a-squared online scanner requirements:

* Windows XP or Windows Vista;Windows7 and Windows8.
* Internet Explorer 5.0+
* User account with administrator privileges;
* 32-bit system .
* 64-bit system
Upon first scan you will be prompted to install a-squared ActiveX components. Agree to that.

Lowering Your High Cholesterol?

Posted on 08:07 by Unknown

Lowering Your High Cholesterol?
Too much cholesterol in the blood can lead to heart disease and stroke America’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers. You can reduce your cholesterol by eating healthful foods, losing weight if you need to and being physically active. Some people also need to take medicine because changing their diet isn’t enough. Your doctor and nurses will help you set up a plan for reducing your cholesterol and keeping yourself healthy!

Most heart and blood vessel disease is caused by a buildup of cholesterol, plaque and other fatty deposits in artery walls. The arteries that feed the heart can become so clogged that the blood flow is reduced, causing chest pain. If a blood clot forms and blocks the artery, a heart attack can occur. Similarly, if a blood clot blocks an artery leading to or in the brain, a stroke results.

What should I eat?
1. Focus on low-saturated-fat, trans fat-free, low-cholesterol foods such as these:

2. A variety of deeply colored fruits and vegetables (4 to 5 servings of each per day)

3. A variety of fiber-rich grain products like whole grain bread, cereal, pasta and brown rice. (6 to 8 servings per day with at least half of the servings whole grains)

4. Fat-free, 1 percent and low-fat milk products (2 to 3 servings per day)

5. Lean meats and poultry without skin (choose up to 5 to 6 total ounces per day)

6. Fatty fish (enjoy at least 2 servings baked or grilled each week)

7. Nuts, seeds, and legumes (dried beans or peas) in limited amounts (4 to 5 servings per week).\

8. Unsaturated vegetable oils like canola, corn, olive, safflower and soybean oils (but a limited amount of tub or liquid unsalted margarines and spreads made from them)

What should I limit?
1. Whole milk, cream and ice cream
2. Butter, egg yolks and cheese and foods made with them
3. Organ meats like liver, sweetbreads, kidney and brain
4. High-fat processed meats like sausage, bologna, salami and hot dogs
5. Fatty meats that aren’t trimmed
6. Duck and goose meat (raised for market)
7. Bakery goods made with egg yolks, saturated fats and trans fats.
8. Saturated oils like coconut oil, palm oil and palm kernel oil
9. Solid fats like shortening, partially hydrogenated margarine and lard
10. Fried foods

Excercise
a. Aerobic exercises are probably the best approach to lowering cholesterol.  Walking, cycling or swimming are good examples of aerobic exercise.

b. Your goal should be to exercise at least 4 days per week for cardiovascular benefit, 6 days per week if desiring weight loss.

c. Measure your pulse rate (if possible) before, during (midway), and after exercise.  The pulse can be found near your wrist (thumb side, called radial pulse) or on the neck (carotid).  Count the number of pulses in 15 seconds, then multiply by four (4) to give the number of pulses per minute.

d. If you choose walking as your exercise, you should gradually work up to 45 to 60 minutes per session (or per day: exercise has a cumulative effect).

How to identify your Skin Type - THE TISSUE TEST

Posted on 06:02 by Unknown

How to identify your Skin Type - THE TISSUE TEST
THE TISSUE TEST
Wash your face with a neutral (not made for a particular skin type) soap or cleanser (such as Neutrogena for normal skin). Rinse with water. Pat try with a towel just enough to absorb moisture do not rub. Wait one hour, and then blot your entire face with one ply (or layer) of a large facial tissue. Press lightly all over your face and leave for about one minute. Then remove the paper carefully and examine it near a window or a light.
What do you see?
1. If you see oil throughout the tissue, you most likely have oily skin.
2.If you see oil only in the Tzone (across forehead, down nose and chin), you most likely have combination skin.
3. If you see very little oil throughout, you most likely have normal skin.
4. If you see no sign of oil at all, you most likely have dry skin.
5. If your skin feels irritated or slightly itchy, you most likely have sensitive skin.

You’ll need to perform this test several times a year-during spring, summer and winter because your skin changes with the seasons.

TEN WAYS TO REDUCE YOUR CRAVINGS

Posted on 05:07 by Unknown

TEN WAYS TO REDUCE YOUR CRAVINGS

Cravings usually occur when your body lacks certain nutrients, including some important vitamins and minerals. This happens when people don't allow themselves the food they need. They will skip their breakfast and eat a tiny salad for lunch and then go home and head for the things like potato chips, burgers, sweets and chocolates. These not only have a lot of calories, but also lack the necessary nutrients; vitamins, minerals and micronutrients that our body needs on a daily basis thus making the person not only put on unnecessary weight but will also make them feel very weak, lethargic and prone to infections.

The following are a few tips as to how to reduce the tendency to develop cravings and thus automatically contribute to reducing weight. The person is asked to  avoid sugar  in all forms, since it tends to triggers unstable blood sugar levels and thus increase the cravings.

1. Suck a sour pickle when you feel a craving for sweet. It will help you to eliminate that craving.
2. Eating enough protein helps to reduce the craving. Small amounts of protein throughout the day are the single best strategy for balancing blood sugar and energy levels and to eliminate the cravings.
3. A really strong craving for sweets can be overcome by eating a peppermint followed by a glass of fruit juice or a few nibbles of a fruit, like an apple or a pear.
4. Use herbs and spices liberally for added flavor plus the blood sugar balancing effects they have. Cinnamon (tuj), cardamom (elaichi) or nutmeg (jaipher), added to yogurt or skimmed milk, will help satisfy a sweet tooth, since these spices add a sweet flavor without the calories.
5. Moderate exercises like brisk walking, swimming and aerobics tend to activate the cells. It helps to decrease the cravings by helping the cells to respond better to insulin and also helps to increase the level of free fatty acids in the blood that can be used for energy.
6. Chocolate is a rich source of magnesium, which most people lack and so develop a craving for it.  So if you crave chocolate take in more of magnesium through either supplements or its sources. Magnesium is found  especially in apples, apricots, avocados, bananas, brewer's yeast, brown rice, dairy products, figs (anjeer), garlic, green leafy vegetables, kelp, meat, nuts, peaches, seafood, sesame seeds, tofu, wheat and whole grains.
7. Keeping yourself absorbed in hobbies that you like (like stitching, gardening, painting, teaching, etc.) will make you feel good and creative and plus deviate your mind off the cravings. So the next time that you feel like reaching for a chocolate cake or a bag of chips, reach out instead for the newspaper or your knitting set.
8. Increase the intake of flaxseed, walnut and canola oil, which contains essential fatty acids. This will also help to decrease the cravings.
9. Make sure to get enough of trace minerals like zinc picolinate and chromium  picolinate, which balance the blood sugar by helping the insulin to work more effectively. So they are very useful to reduce the craving plus to reduce the weight.
