Hair Care Tips

Hair Care Tips
DO NOT

1. Do not apply chemicals to your hair without a consultation from a professional stylist.

2. Do not brush, scratch or shampoo hair and scalp before any chemical service.

3. Never apply a relaxer and a tint on the same day or week.

4. Do not re-apply a relaxer before six weeks has elapsed.  Do not re-apply permanent wave before eight to twelve weeks has elapsed.

5. Do not use the so called “no lye relaxer”.   In the long term, they will damage your hair and your child’s hair too!

6. Do not press and curl chemically treated hair.  Stop allowing blow and go salons to use irons on your hair.

7. Never blow dry wet hair.  Towel-dry your hair first.  Apply setting lotion or leave in conditioner.  Then sit under a dryer until all moisture is absorbed.  Allowing hair cuticle to close.  Then you can blow dry your hair on a medium setting.

8. Never use sponge rollers-they will absorb all the moisture and conditioners from your hair.

9. When sleeping do not place rollers where your head will touch the pillow.  Stress caused by the roller will tear and weaken the hair.  Set the top of your head.  Wrap your hair around your head or pin clip your hair.

10. Do not use plastic brushes-natural or boar-bristle brushes are best.

11. Never wear a plastic cap to bed if you have a permanent wave, your scalp and hair will become rancid.

12. Do not wear wool scarves or hats without a silk lining.

13. Do not use tight uncovered rubber bands on your hair.

14. Do not add dead hair, synthetic hair or wool to your hair.  Every head of hair has potential with the right treatment.  Find out what yours is before you do more damage!

15. Do not have a chemical service after the seventh month of pregnancy.

16. Do not use any chemical on your hair before any major surgery.

DO

1. Do have the proper hair analysis to determine the right products for your hair texture.

2. Conditioning is mandatory every time you have a chemical.

3. Allow a six-month interval or three inches of new growth between application of a relaxer and a permanent wave.

4. If your scalp is sensitive to chemical service, apply oil to the scalp.

5. Advise your stylist of any medications you are taking (specifically tranquilizers or diet pills) before a chemical service.

6. Do have your hair shaped or ends trimmed after every chemical service to avoid split ends.

7. Do sleep on a satin pillow case-cotton robs the hair of moisture.  Or wrap your hair in a silk wrap.

8. Do rinse out chlorine and salt water after swimming.

9. Do cover your hair when spending time in the sun.

10. Do shampoo your hair after a workout or strenuous exercise.  The salt from perspiration will erode your hair.  If you work out more than once a week consult your stylist for your particular needs.

11. Do cover your hair when you go in the sauna.  You can leave your hair uncovered in a steam room.

12. Do use conditioning shampoos and creme conditioners on natural hair and very dry hair.

13. Always maintain a balanced diet with exercise for a healthy head of hair.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR LAPTOP IN 15 EASY WAYS

Posted on 06:42 by Unknown

TAKE CARE OF YOUR LAPTOP IN 15 EASY WAYS
Source:  http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0/deed.en
Taking care of your laptop is one of the most important things you should know. You would want to take advantage of its full life, don’t you? It might have cost you quite a bit out of your pocket so it is just proper that you’d do everything to take care of it and maintain its good health. Here’s what every laptop owners should do to protect and extend its life.
1. Do not eat and drink while you’re in front of your laptop. Spilled liquids and fallen food crumbs and bits can easily damage the sensitive circuitry inside.

2. Do not touch the LCD screen. Close the lid gently by holding it with both hands when shutting it off. This is to avoid breaking it. It is also important to clean your monitor with approved cleaning materials only. Screen repairs don't come in real cheap so you may want to make sure the monitor is taken cared of properly.

3. Keep its temperature cooler by installing a laptop cooler or chill mat to reduce its operating temperature.

4. A laptop’s battery is like human muscles - if you don’t exercise it, it’d become useless. Use your laptop's battery until it tells you to recharge. At least once a week unplug it from the wall and let it run on battery power. This will make the battery life lasts much longer.

5. Do not let it run for straight two days, even on powerful laptops. Laptops can get very hot and leaving it on for a longer period of time may cause overheating. It is advisable to install software that automatically puts your laptop in a sleep or hibernate mode or even shut it down after a period of inactivity.

6. If you need to move and take your laptop more than a few feet away, shut it down or put it to sleep
before moving on. Do not walk with your laptop on because you are risking the hard drive with every stumble, stump, or jar you make.

7. Don't close anything inside your laptop. There is a little clearance between the screen and the keyboard and even a couple sheets of paper can put stress onto the screen. Also, avoid putting heavy objects on top of your laptop. These careless actions can damage and break the screen.

8. Always use the laptop carrying bag given by the company gave you to reduce the risk of breaks because of laptop being bumped to or dropped accidentally.

9. Cover your laptop, and also your keyboard, when you’re not using it, e.g. with a simple cloth, to protect it from dust, especially in dry and dusty areas.  However don’t forget to turn of the power first!  You can clean the keyboard from time to time with a little airpump.

10. Finally guard its health by using antivirus software and firewall.  Keep the installed antivirus updated. Your internet-connected laptop is always at risk of being infected with viruses, so you may want to take the necessary precautions. Data loss because of viruses can give you headaches.

11. Treat the laptop like you would your wallet. Don’t leave it lying around. Avoid leaving it in the car, or if you must, lock it in the boot.

12. Be sure nothing is stacked or thrown on top of the laptop.

13. Put the laptop on a solid surface if you are using it for a long time. Resting it on a pillow or other soft material might block the airflow vents and cause it to overheat.

14. Recharge the battery each night. While charging, place it on a hard surface like the dining table or kitchen bench. Don’t charge it near water.

15. Unplug the laptop if there’s an electrical storm.

Pregnancy Care II

Posted on 23:32 by Unknown

Pregnancy Care II

1. REGIME: The mother should take utmost care during pregnancy as the delicate fetus lies within her stomach. Climbing stairs, repeated bending as well as sitting in difficult postures should be avoided. Jerks can also be harmful and so a pregnant mother should avoid traveling in rickshaws, carriages and two wheeler. It is a wrong conception that a pregnant lady should be taking rest all the time. She has to, like normal times, wake up early and do a little bit of work, take a walk especially two to three hours after lunch  or in the evening. The pregnant woman must wear clothes that are loose and comfortable and which do not exert any kind of pressure on any part of her body.

2. MENTAL STATE: The expectant mother should always be in a healthy state of mind. This is because the negative emotions (like fear, apprehension, worries, grief, anxiety, irritability, etc.) affect not only her own health but also the health of the fetus. During severe depression in the pregnant mother, there is markedly reduced motility of the fetus and sometimes an extension of the gestational age. So an atmosphere of joy
and gaiety should be maintained for the pregnant woman as far as possible. She should spend more time in hobbies like reading good old time stories, knitting, painting, listening to good music, meditating, etc. and should also go for gentle walks and do plenty of mild, non-vigorous exercises.

3. THINGS TO AVOID: Smoking, drinking alcohol and taking any drugs or medications without her doctor's advice is to be strictly avoided. The pregnant woman should avoid undergoing any X-ray, including the dental ones, since they are known to contribute to the development of cancer, not only in the mother, but also in the children in the later years. Also she should avoid any oil massages. The mother-to-be is also advised to avoid excessive use of salt, refined sugar, harmful spices (like white vinegar, black and white pepper and mustard), coffee, tea, chocolate, soft drinks and food products made from white flour.

4. LABOR:  It is a process through which the product of conception is expelled from the uterus into the outside world. Labor is often preceded by agitation, nervous trembling, lowness of spirits, weepy disposition, etc. The patient may complain of loose stools a day or two before labor, which should not be interfered with. There are intense pains in the abdomen that are associated with passage of water and a slight discharge of reddish mucus called as a "show" that helps further the process of labor. The process of labor may be protracted in women in their first confinement.

Natural childbirth at home or in any familiar surrounding under the assistance of a registered medical practitioner is by far the most effective to help ease the mother during labor. When the expectant mother complains of labor pain, ask her to drink plenty of fluids, urinate at least once every hour or two, apply hot compresses on the lower abdomen to ease the pain, keep taking deep breaths and try to relax. Ask the expectant father to stay by his wife all the time. After delivery the mother should be kept perfectly quiet, both in body and mind and loud noise, strong odors and anything that can excitement her should be avoided. The discharges that take place after confinement are called as "lochia" and they tend to vary from person to person. In some it can be thin and scanty whereas in others it may be profuse and can continue for several weeks. The discharge is initially red in color, but gradually grows lighter, becoming yellowish and then whitish and then it completely ceases. In cases where the discharge continues for too long or is too profuse or if suppressed suddenly, medical assistance is required.

PREGNANCY CARE I

PREGNANCY CARE I
Source  from Wikipedia:http://www.usda.gov/oc/photo/02cs2059.htm

The blood of the mother is the sole source of nourishment for the child and so should be kept pure and healthy by taking a diet rich in vitamins, minerals and micronutrients.

The following are some advises regarding the diet and other factors for the pregnant woman that helps to prevent any complications and aids the mother to have a normal delivery of a healthy baby:

1. A strict vegetarian diet is very important to be taken by the mother during the nine months of pregnancy; since it is a good source of minerals, vitamins, trace elements and enzymes which will favorably influence the growth and formation of the fetus. Most vegetables should be eaten raw in the form of a salad. Some vegetables, such as potatoes, yams and green beans can be taken cooked, steamed  or  baked. Vegetables containing an excess of oxalic acid, such as spinach (palak), rhubarb (revandchini) and cabbage should be boiled in water for around five minutes, before eating. The proteins in alfalfa, parsley and potatoes are comparable to the protein in milk in their biological value.

2. Garlic and onions contain sulphur and selenium, very important trace elements for the pregnant woman and so should be included in the daily diet.

3. All grains and seeds are rich sources of vitamins (especially vitamin E and B complex vitamins) and unsaturated fatty seeds and these should be had in the sprouted form since sprouting increases the nutritive value of the seeds. Wheat, mung, beans, alfalfa and soyabeans make excellent sprouts.

4. Soyabeans, buckwheat, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds and peanuts all contain complete proteins of high biological value.

5. Roasted peanuts are taken with jaggery and cow or goat milk.

6. Almonds are of tremendous importance for the development and nourishment of the child's brain. Soak daily about ten almonds overnight in water and then the next day morning peel off the skin and then grind it into a paste with a few drops of water and take it daily, freshly made.

7. Foods rich in iron are very important to be taken daily. The  sources of iron are almonds, apples, apricots, avocados, bajra, bananas, beet root, Bengal gram, black berries, black currants, blackstrap molasses, brewer's yeast, cashewnuts, coriander leaves, drumstick (saijan ki phalli), dry dates, dried plums (also called as prunes), egg  yolk, figs (anjeer), fish, jaggery, jawar, kelp, legumes, lettuce, lintels, liver, meat, methi, nuts, parsley, peaches, pears, pistachios, pumpkins, radish leaves, raisins, rice, sesame seeds, soybeans, spinach (palak), sprouted grains, strawberries, watermelon and whole wheat.

8. Fruits are an excellent source of minerals, vitamins and enzymes and are easily digested and have a cleansing effect on the blood and the digestive tract. Dried fruits should be pre-soaked before eating. Fruits are best eaten for breakfast or as a snack between the meal times.

9. Calcium is another important mineral for a growing fetus. It helps in the development of eyes and the skeletal system and so low-fat milk, cheese and yogurt should be taken daily.

10. Other calcium-rich foods are almonds (unblanched), asparagus, beans, brewer's yeast,

11. Brazil nuts, cereals fortified with calcium, citrus fruits, figs (anjeer), fish (like mackerel, salmon, sardines and shellfish), green leafy vegetables (like blackstrap molasses, broccoli, cabbage, chick-peas, collard greens, dandelion greens, kale, mustard greens, turnip greens, etc.;  except spinach), lime, oats, peanuts, peas, prunes (dried plums), sesame seeds, soybean, sunflower seeds, tofu, wheat and whole-grain cereals.

12. Thyme tea speeds up delivery.

Select the right tools for hair care:
Always use the right hair care tools. Instead of using a narrow comb, select one that comes with wide tooth. Make sure that the end points are rounded and not sharp ones. Comb your wet hair with wide toothed comb as it will prevent your hair from breakage and help untangling them without causing any kind of damage. Use a brush which has natural bristles and a blow dryer to style your hair. There are various type of hair style products like gels, hairsprays and mousses. Trim your hair on regular interval
Trimming keeps your hair healthy and nice and helps in enhancing the healthy growth of hair. Trim after every three months or twice in a year. In fact the interval of hair trimming is dependent on the texture, conditions and extent of damage of your hair. Visit your stylist as this concerned person will be able to guide you in right way about trimming.

Eat healthy and follow sound lifestyle
A healthy hair reflects your eating habits and the kind of life you lead. It is advisable to take healthy diet and exercise regularly to help the body in getting rid of toxins. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, drink adequate water and try to reduce stress from your life. This will result not only in healthy hair but also overall good health.
Apply a hair oil containing Vitamin E. This oil has vitalizing effects on hair. Oils like rosemary and are also good for hair growth. It is better to brush your hair daily before going to bed.
