Body Piercing - Know The Risks

Posted on 06:19 by Unknown
Body Piercing - Know The Risks
Traumatic tear of the earlobe
Having a part of your body pierced is a very important decision and can have negative health effects if done poorly. If you are considering having a piercing done read on and check out some of the facts for yourself.

Tongues, Lips and Cheeks
Although popular, these can be some of the more dangerous areas of the body to get pierced. Complications can include infections, speech impediments, breathing problems, increased tooth decay and broken teeth. Infections can result in blood poisoning, toxic shock syndrome, a blocked airway, as well as the risk of diseases like HIV and hepatitis.

Eyebrows, nose, ear Lobes and upper ears
Infections in the area around the eyes and nose can result in serious complications. Pierced ear lobes have been around for hundreds of years. Recently, the trend is towards piercing the upper ear through the cartilage that gives your ear its structure. Ear cartilage is sensitive and slow healing. Infections can cause a
‘cauliflower’ appearance of the ear. Piercing the side of your nose can also be very painful, and can cause difficulties if you have a cold or runny nose.

NippLes and naveLs
Nipple piercing in women can create scar tissue that may cause difficulties in breast-feeding in later life. The nipple is very sensitive and therefore can be very painful to pierce. Bellybuttons also should be pierced with care and watched constantly. The moist,  warm nature of the navel makes risk of infection a little higher.

Genitals
Piercing genitals is a decision that should not be taken lightly. An infection here is not only painful, but can be very serious. It is really important to try and get some advice from a doctor before considering piercing of the penis, labia, clitoris, foreskin or scrotum. Some States and Territories restrict access to these procedures to those aged 18 years and over.

HIV and other diseases
There are also significant risks of transmission of diseases like hepatitis B and C and HIV/AIDS in unsafe piercing studios and with piercing done by friends or relatives in un-sterile conditions. It is essential that any sign of infection is treated seriously and promptly.

After the procedure
The body piercing provider should provide you with information about how to care for your new piercing. Remember to make an immediate appointment with your doctor if there are any problems with an area that is pierced that might indicate infection or complications (such as bleeding, pain, weeping or swelling), or that you are worried about.

It is also important to remember that you can talk to your doctor before you decide to have any area of your body pierced.
You doctor will be able to:

  •   discuss the risks with you;
  •   warn about possible allergies, infections and abnormal “keloid” scarring;
  •   tell you how to make sure that the piercing  studio is safe;
  •   talk about how to care for your piercing; and

show you what to look for and what to do if something goes wrong.
Some doctors are happy to do piercing for their patients in a clean, sterile and safe environment. Remember your doctor can also give you another opportunity to discuss your decision further. Drugs and alcohol can impair decision making so do not get a piercing done while under the influence. It is best to give yourself some time to think through your decision to get a piercing.

MEANING OF MOLES And BIRTH-MARKS ON YOUR BODY

Posted on 20:04 by Unknown
MEANING OF MOLES And BIRTH-MARKS ON YOUR BODY
The interpretation of moles and birth-marks depends upon two factors: their actual physical appearance, and the part of the subject's body upon which they appear. Did you know that a mole on either of your cheeks could classify you as serious, studious and solemn? The study of moles is called Moleosophy.

The location of a mole, its size, shape and colour can be interpreted as indicators of your character, as well as generalities for the future. Twin moles could have yet another connotation. Moleosophy, when co-related with interpretations of other psychic sciences, substantiates personality and character readings, and provides a complete view of the subject.

Interpreting moles based on their location.
Location Interpretation

Arms:Moles on the arms indicate that the person is polite, diligent and will lead a happy married life.If mole is near the elbow, the man will need to struggle in life, and might also become a young widower. If the woman has the same characteristics, however, her problems relate to her occupation.

Armpits:A mole under the left arm is indicative of great struggle early in life, which is, however, well rewarded. Wealth makes later years equally pleasurable. A mole under the right arm shows that one needs to be alert and cautious in matters of security.

Back:People like this are unreliable, and with them one must ensure that all facts are available before one enters any sort of negotiation for any enterprise.

Breast:A mole on the right breast is indicative of laziness, which may affect family life. You need to be assertive about your needs to be able to enjoy the love and comfort of the children. A mole on the left breast  belongs to active and energetic people, who generally get what they want in life.

Buttocks:People who have a mole on their buttocks are UN-ambitious, and will be reconciled to any mode of living.

Cheek:A mole on either cheek indicates a serious and studious person who has no interest in material pleasures.

Chin:A mole on either side of the chin is indicative of people who are affectionate and caring. These people adapt easily to any situation. They love travelling and respect the law of the land. They are also dedicated and conscientious workers and willingly accept responsibilities.Foretells a happy and fortunate marriage; the nearer to the mouth it is located, the greater will be the wealth and good fortune brought to the person by their spouse. The lucky possessor of a mole on this part of the body will never face poverty or anxiety. Is an omen that warns of many difficulties in achieving fortune and success. Courage, perseverance, and a firm will are needed in the many struggles that can fall to the person. Those who possess these qualities in a good manner stand a good chance of winning these battles and build up a good career; but weaker and less sure persons will be more apt to "go under" as fate is against them.

Ear:People who are born with a mole on their ear are generally considered lucky.

Elbow:People who have moles on their elbow love to travel. They are adventurous and spirited.

Eye:If the mole is located on the outer corner of the eye, this indicates that the person is honest, reliable and forthright.

Eyebrow:If a mole is located on the right eyebrow, it signifies that these people will have a highly active life and will be successful in all ventures.

Finger:People who have a mole on any finger turn out to be dishonest and tend to grossly exaggerate.

Foot:People with a mole on their foot are easy going and laid back. They need to exercise to stay healthy.A mole on the right foot shows a great love of travel, if the same person has a mole on the left foot as well, it is a sign that they will also be able to indulge in this love. A mole on the left foot alone reveals a quick intellect and well-developed sense of thought.

Forehead:People who have a mole on their forehead will be prosperous and well settled in life.Thought to be a mark of outstanding ability and mental power, which will help the person to prosper. Traveling is also indicated.

Left Side:Is said to foretell that person will have little to no clue about the value of money, and is likely to be found in a state of monetarily over-extending themselves due to their own knack for squandering and extravagance.

Middle:Said to have great successes in affairs of the heart. A woman with this mark will count her admirers by the dozen; the man will have the finesse of a Don Juan.

Hand:Those people who have a mole on their hand are talented and make a success of their lives.

Heel:People who possess a mole on their heel make enemies easily and are prone to losing friends.

Hip:A mole on any part of the hip except the buttocks signifies that these people are contented, resilient and spirited.

Jaw:To have a mole on either side of the jaw is an unlucky sign, revealing weak health and resulting in a hampered career. The omen is more inauspicious if the mole is on the left hand side

Knee:If you have a mole on your right knee, it implies that you are a friendly person. A mole on the left knee signifies that these people lead an extravagant lifestyle.

Lips:People with a mole on their lips always aspire to get ahead in life.On either lip, a mole foretells of a pleasant, upbeat personality combined with a hint of sensuality and indolence. Those who have a mole so placed are fond of the good things in life and often turn deaf ear to duty if it conflicts with this pursuit of pleasure. They are ardent lovers and yet their constancy is not above reproach. If the mole is large and located on the lower lip, this omen has a more sensual significance; the women are thought to be heartless flirts and the men not any better. If the mole is on the upper lip, greater delicacy is revealed although the nature of the person is sensual, it is modified and controlled by refinement and good taste.

Naval:A man who has a mole on his navel will be lucky in life and a woman who has the same desires children.

Neck:If the mole is on the front of the neck, it signifies unexpected good fortune. If it is on either side of the neck, it indicates an unreasonable temperament. A mole on the back of the neck indicates a person's desire to lead a simple life.

Nipple:If a man has a mole on his nipple, it indicates a fickle nature. If a woman has a mole on her nipple, it indicates that she is striving for social status.

Nose:A mole on the nose belongs to a person who will be a sincere friend and a hard-working individual.A very lucky sign, for these folks will enjoy success and prosperity, and practically every undertaking will have a satisfactory outcome. Wide traveling and frequent change of scenery is there. A mole on the side of the nose (especially in women) often gives a voluptuous temperament.

Right Knee:Happy marriage, the wedded life will pass easily and smoothly; unhampered by monetary problems or serious stresses.

Left Knee:Be more inclined to act without forethought and will often have cause to regret this reckless attitude. At heart, though, will be upright and kindly and possess a sympathetic nature.

Leg:Mole on any part of either leg between the knee and ankle areas shows a careless andindolent nature; a person who possesses a mole in this area will most likely be selfish, lazy, and lacking sympathy towards others.

Ribs side:Weak, cowardly disposition is revealed by a mole on the right side of the ribs. Those who have this mark so placed will be indolent, lacking in intelligence and delicacy, and of a bullish nature. If the mole is on the left hand side, these characteristics will be modified to some extent and tempered with a touch of good humour.

Shoulder:A mole on the right shoulder indicates a sensible, industrious individual.

Significance of Twin Moles
When there are twin moles irrespective of their location, the person possesses a dual nature. The presence of two moles, side by side, is indicative of a person being in love with two people.

Significance of shapes in Moles
(a) Round: A round mole signifies the goodness in people.
(b) Oblong: An oblong mole depicts a modest share of acquired wealth.
(c) Angular:An angular mole suggests that the individual has both positive and negative characteristics.

Significance of Moles based on colour
(a) Light Coloured Moles:Those who have light coloured moles are considered lucky.
(b) Black Moles:This denotes that a person would have to surmount obstacles in order to achieve the desired results.

Thigh:A mole on the thigh gives a warm, enthusiastic temperament. Mole on the right thigh denotes prosperity and a happy marriage. Mole on the left thigh is a warning of loss of money, injustice and loneliness; the warmth and frankness of their personality will be met with many rebuffs. It is a very common occurrence that a mole on the thigh is also accompanied by one on the ear.

Throat: A mole on the throat or on the front of the neck is a fortunate sign denoting of a wealthy marriage or successful career.

Wrist:Person having a mole on either right or left wrist will have a very interesting and successful career. Their own intelligence and the talents they are blessed with are valuable assets and will generally ensure them of success and happiness in life.A mole on the wrist indicates that the person is frugal, ingenious and dependable.

15 Secrets for Using Body Language in Business

Posted on 08:33 by Unknown
15 Secrets for Using Body Language in Business

We instantly send messages that speak more loudly than words, using body language or non-verbal communication. Body language communicates powerfully because we are visual creature. We take in much more information with our eyes than with our other senses.

Here are some tips on how to use body language to make a great impression in business, so you connect with your customers.

1. Posture:  People who exude class and confidence invariably have great posture. They stand and walk tall. Good posture makes a strong impression because people notice it from across the room. It involves the whole body, not just small muscles. To make a great impression, stand and walk tall.

2. Facial expression: We look at people’s faces to find out their moods. When your face and words don’t match, you send a mixed message. For credibility, make sure your facial expressions match your words.

3. Smile: The smile has a magical quality that is almost impossible to ignore. There is something inside us that responds instinctively to a sincere smile. Smile warmly, and you’ll make an instant connection.

4. Eye contact: Without eye contact, communication is almost impossible. Try talking to someone without looking at them. Do you feel any connection? When doing business with North Americans, aim to maintain eye contact about 60-70% of the time to maximize its positive impact. With people from other cultures, you may need more or less eye contact.

5. Hands: People notice other people’s hands, so what you do with your hands can betray your true feelings. Nervousness often shows in your hands through rubbing or wringing them together, or clasping and unclasping them. To appear calm and relaxed, avoid excessive fidgeting, or rapid, exaggerated gestures.

6. Open or closed posture: Body language can be described as Open or Closed. Open body language welcomes interaction. It involves facing people squarely, and making eye contact. Closed body language is used when people feel threatened or uncomfortable. They withdraw or hide their bodies by using various stances and physical shields for protection.

7. Mirroring: Good communicators naturally mirror people’s body language. It’s a way of getting in sync. We all use different tones of voice and language when communicating in business from when we talk to close friends or family members. You can easily tone down or ramp up your energy level, rate of speech, and voice tone to make the other person feel comfortable.

8. They place their hands in their chest. This signifies openness and conveys sincerity, honesty, or dedication. However, a woman putting her hands in her breast is a defensive position and may indicate that she is surprised or astonished.

9. They take their glasses off, after which they may either (1) clean them, or (2) put the tip of the frame in their mouth. They are buying themselves some time to think things over. A frame in the mouth would also likely indicate that they need more details and they are willing to listen.

10. They are pinching the bridge of the nose most likely with eyes closed. People doing this are engaged in very deep thought. They may be involved in a difficult situation, where they are aware of the consequences that may occur as a result of making crucial decisions.

11. They put a palm below the chin, index finger pointed and extended along the cheek, while other fingers placed beneath the mouth. This gesture more likely indicates thoughts that are criticizing or antagonizing other people.

12. They walk with the head down and hands behind the back. People who walk this way are probably worried about their problems, and they are thinking of ways to solve them.

13. When doing sales calls and presentations, be sure to use sincere and open movements all the time. Do not cross your arms, as this can ruin the trust of your potential customer. The outward and upward gestures of your hands are recommendable. If you lean back on a chair and place your hands at the back of your head, it may drive your clients away as this is a sure sign of arrogance and a false sense of confidence. Meanwhile, if you place your hands on your waists, you are exuding positive confidence.

14. "Don't point.” Pointing at a client is equivalent to death wish in selling. It is as if you’re waving your sales opportunity goodbye. Pointing is an aggressive act that can be interpreted as hostility, so throw this gesture out the window if you really want to sell.

15. In sales, here are signs that you are open for negotiations and are willing to compromise. Unbuttoning your jacket means you are ready to talk and to listen to a counter offer. Removing your jacket or rolling your sleeves up is a very good sign for the client, as this means you are ready to decide or to give in to the final price.

TEN TIPS FOR POSITIVE BODY LANGUAGE

Posted on 07:10 by Unknown

TEN TIPS FOR POSITIVE BODY LANGUAGE

Our face, eyes, hand gestures and posture express what is going on inside of us.

They each give valuable clues to others (and to us), as to whether the words we say are consistent with what we are really feeling.

Being aware of our body language allows us to send a consistent message and be more aware of what others are subliminally conveying to us.

#1. Eye contact

Eye contact is the first thing that people look for when they meet us first and good eye contact will give them a feeling of comfort and genuine warmth in your company,

Maintaining good eye contact shows respect and interest in what they have to say.

Here in Ireland we tend to keep eye contact around 60-70% of the time. (However, there are wide cultural differences, so be careful in other countries) .

By drawing the eyes away occasionally or looking at different areas of the face around the eye area, you create the impression of eye contact without making people feel  uncomfortable. Any more eye contact than this and you can be too intense, any less and you give off a signal that you are lacking interest in them or their conversation.

#2. Posture

Getting your posture right will automatically make you feel more confident. And when you feel good other people pick up on that.

Next time you notice you're feeling a bit down, take a look at how you’re standing or sitting. Chances are you'll be slouched over with your shoulders drooping down and inward.

This collapses the chest and inhibits good breathing, which in turn can help make you feel nervous or uncomfortable.

#3. Head position

When you want to feel confident and self assured keep your head level both horizontally and vertically.

You can also use this straight head position when you want to be authoritative and want what you're saying to be taken seriously.

Conversely, when you want to be friendly and in the listening, receptive mode, tilt your head just a little to one side or the other. You can shift the tilt from left to right at different points in the conversation.

#4. Arms

Your arms give away clues as to how open and receptive we are to everyone we meet and interact with, so keep your arms out to the side of your body or behind your back.

This shows you are not scared to take on whatever comes your way and you meet things "full frontal".

In general terms the more outgoing you are as a person, the more you tend to use your arms with big movements.

The quieter you are the less you move your arms away from your body. So, try to strike a
natural balance and keep your arm movements balanced.

Crossing your arms is a no, no in meetings or at interview as it can be interpreted as being passive aggressive or closed to suggestion.

#5. Legs

Your legs are the furthest point away from your brain; consequently they're the hardest bits of your body to consciously control.

When we are nervous, stressed or being deceptive our legs tend to move around a lot more than normal. So best to keep them as still as possible in most situations, especially at interviews or work meetings.

Be careful too in the way you cross your legs.

Do you cross at the knees, ankles or bring your leg up to rest on the knee of the other?

Quite often this is more a question of comfort than anything else.

But do be aware that the last position mentioned is known as the "Figure Four" and is generally perceived as the most defensive leg cross, especially if it happens when someone is telling you something that might be of a slightly dubious nature or, just moments after.

#6. Angle of the body in relation to others

The angle of your body in relation to others gives an indication of your attitude and feelings towards them.

We angle inward toward people we find attractive, friendly and interesting and angle ourselves away from those we don't, it's that simple!

#7. Hand gestures

Our hand gestures are so numerous it's hard to give a brief guide but here goes.

Palms slightly up and outward is seen as open and friendly. Palm down gestures are generally seen as dominant, emphasizing and possibly aggressive, especially when there is no movement or bending between the wrist and the forearm.

This palm up, palm down is very important when it comes to handshaking and where appropriate we suggest you always offer a handshake upright and vertical, which should convey equality.

#8. Distance from others

The distance we place between ourselves and others is crucial if we want to give off the right signals.

Stand too close and you'll be marked as "Pushy" or "In your face".

Stand or sit too far away and you'll be "Keeping your distance" or "Stand offish".

As neither of these is what we want, it’s always a good idea to observe other people in the group and see how close they are standing to each other. Then you can mimic that distance.

Also notice if you move closer to someone and they back away, you're probably just a tiny bit too much in their personal space, their comfort zone and should pull back a little.

Spatial distance varies greatly from country to country so always be aware of how others are spaced in groups around you.

#9. Ears

Yes! Your ears play a vital role in communication with others, even though in general terms most people can't move them much, if at all.

However, you've got two ears and only one mouth, so try to use them in that order!!

If you listen twice as much as you talk you come across as a good communicator who knows how to strike up a well balanced conversation.

Remember you never learn anything by speaking, only by listening .

10. Mouth movements

Our mouth movements can give away all sorts of clues about us.

We purse our lips and sometimes twist them to the side when we're thinking.Or, sometimes we use this movement to hold back an angry comment that we don't wish to reveal. Nevertheless, it will probably be spotted by other people and although they may not know the comment, they will get the feeling that you were not too pleased.

There are also different types of smiles and each gives off a corresponding feeling.

A full smile with the lip coming above the teeth shows genuine joy .

A tight lipped smile implies disapproval or shyness .

When one side of the mouth is raised in a closed lip smile it can imply attraction, or it can mean complicity for an ‘in’ joke.

A smile that does not reach the eyes is NOT a smile but  manipulation .
