StartIsBack 1.3.2 - MS Windows 8

Posted on 01:49 by Unknown

StartIsBack 1.3.2 - MS Windows 8
StartIsBack – the best way to relieve your (and your users) Windows 8 pain.
StartIsBack radically improves desktop usability and makes new Start screen clutter-free.
StartIsBack is fully native lightweight zero-privileges program, cheap and fair, fast, stable and secure.
Think of it as a transition path which Microsoft should have made for Windows 8.
StartIsBack returns Windows 8 a real fully featured start menu and start button, behaving exactly like the ones in Windows 7.

Boot to desktop
Your session would start with the desktop. Always. Unlike other solutions, StartIsBack goes directly to desktop every time without flashing Start Screen even for a millisecond.

Original fully-featured Windows 7 start menu
StartIsBack restores original Windows 7 start menu with all its features: search, drag&drop, pinned and recently used apps, fully customizable settings.
Start button and Start menu look and behave exactly as they used to in Windows 7.

Desktop and Modern interfaces are clearly separated
StartIsBack is the only tool which is able to provide consistency in Windows 8 by separating desktop and modern programs. Real work is done on desktop while new
Start screen turns into launcher for modern apps only.

Make Start screen clutter-free
Windows 8 forces you to organize new Start screen which can quickly become a long list of mess with automatically pinned programs. This is no longer the case with StartIsBack. If you turn Start screen into Apps screen, you won’t have the pain to manage two Start places.

Totally native
StartIsBack does not run any additional services or programs. It integrates into your computer smoothly. It does not require any other tools or frameworks to install and can be installed without administrative privileges. Start menu is fully localized into your language with same metrics and names Windows 7 had.

Rich customization and configuration
StartIsBack allows you to configure many aspects of appearance and behavior of Start menu and Modern UI elements. This is done in most reliable way, within attractive and easy configuration UI.

Nutrition tips to keep you alert while studying

Posted on 01:00 by Unknown

Nutrition tips to keep you alert while studying
If you are like most students, exam time eating often sends you into a de-energizing spiral. Your nutrition becomes a nightmare as you take in your quota of ‘junk’ food during midterms and finals. Getting control of your eating during these stressful times is possible. Read on for some helpful hints to overcome these nutritional pitfalls.
Eat small, frequent meals to keep your blood sugar and energy levels steady.

Now’s the time to have easy, convenient meal-type foods on hand. Avoid living entirely on snack foods as they usually won’t energize you as much as a real meal. This is the time for frozen entrees, bean soups, peanut butter and cold cut sandwiches, ready-to-eat tuna and chicken salads and other convenient foods.

Avoid sweets and sugary foods. If you crave sweets, consider a high protein nutrition bar instead of a candy bar.  Read the “nutrition facts’ label carefully.

Choose meals and snacks that emphasize protein over carbohydrate. Protein-rich meals and snacks keep your energy on an even keel. For example, snack on cheese, crackers and skim milk instead of crackers and juice. Top your pasta with grilled chicken strips rather than have pasta and sauce alone. You can even scramble some eggs!

Limit caffeine. Cut back gradually.

Water, water, water! Keep a cup and a liter of ice water at your desk to help maintain your energy. Consume at least that amount of water for every two hours of studying.

Avoiding extra, exam-time calories

Make yourself get up to snack. Don’t bring the snacks to your study place. Eat snacks in the kitchen or another part of your room, away from the desk.

Make sure your room/apartment is stocked with healthier snacks. Here are some ideas: nuts, raisins, cheese sticks, low-fat yogurt, low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat milk, crunchy fresh fruits and veggies (add dip for the veggies), frozen juice bars, hearty, low sugar breakfast cereals, oatmeal, low-fat popcorn, protein rich nutrition bars, caffeine-free herbal teas, etc.

Remember that thirst can be confused with hunger. Try drinking a glass of water or a cup of hot herbal tea if you are unsure of the origins of your hunger.

Study breaks: are you hungry?

Only eat when you are physically hungry, not because you are in need of a study break! When heading for the pantry look for true hunger signals, like stomach pangs/twinges, to be sure you’re physically hungry. If you’re not hungry but still desire to eat, take a 10-minute time out and try to figure out what you really need (i.e. study break, stress relief, pep talk, etc.). Try to get those needs met without using food.  Do something physical to get the blood circulating to the brain.

Don’t watch TV for a study break. The commercials for food will send you to the pantry for calories you don’t need!

Ten Disciplines of Hinduism

Posted on 23:10 by Unknown

Ten Disciplines of Hinduism

The Hindu Disciplines are found in the Bhagavad Gita, which is Krishna's battlefield discussion with Arjuna. The oldest continuously-practiced religion in the world, and the dominant religion of South Asia (chiefly, India of course), the Indonesian island of Bali, and certain parts of The Caribbean (such as many areas of Guyana or Trinidad) due to the presence of Indo-Caribbean people there, Hinduism's roots can be traced back to Iron Age India, and as such it is believed to be the oldest living religion in the world. Contrary to popular Western belief, most modern Hindus will attest that it is monotheistic, not polytheistic. To sum it up simply, in the same way Catholicism has the concept of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being different forms of the same God, Hinduism has a similar belief: Vishnu, Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, Bramha, Hanuman, etc. are all different forms of one God, known variously as Brahma, Ishvara, or other names. So, though Hindu Mythology contains a vast pantheon of gods and beings, they are all recognized to be part of the same Sarvasva or "All-Being", i.e, God.

1) Nonviolence.
2) Truthfulness.
3) No desire to posses or steal.
4) Celibacy or sense control, and no adultery.
5) Non-greed.
6) Purity of thought, word, and deed.
7) Contentment.
8) Austerity, perseverance and penance.
9) Study of scriptures
10) Surrendering to God with faithful loving devotion, regular prayers

WHAT IS HINDUISM?

Posted on 22:07 by Unknown

WHAT IS HINDUISM?
THIS IS WHAT THE RAMAYANA , MAHABHARATA , VEDAS AND UPANISHAD SAYS.

H stands for Harmony
Hinduism respects all religions and thus aspires for mutual tolerance and respect.
Hinduism does not encourage hate or distrust.
Hinduism is intolerant of intolerance.
It does not actively seek converts.
It emphasizes conduct and not creed.
It has the capacity to assimilate all the Faiths and the Philosophies.

I for Incarnation (Avataara)
God descends to Earth in any form and under any sky as may be needed to uphold DHARMA (righteousness). There is no space, time, form or numerical limitation to Avataaras.

N for Non-Violence (Ahimsa)
Hinduism recognizes that life supports life. One should avoid causing unnecessary injury (in thoughts, words or deeds) to one-self or other fellow beings including other life forms. Vegetarianism is glorified by some Hindu sects, but never a prerequisite to be a Hindu.

D for Dharma (Righteousness)
We should always protect Dharma (support what is right). This is regarded as a necessity, because Dharma is the basis of harmonious life. If we don't support Dharma, it will be as if chopping the very branches of the tree (of life) we are resting on.

U for Unity of existence
Everything and all beings are inter connected or inter related and are essentially the manifestation or extension of the one Supreme Being. The world is one big family.

I for Inherent Value
The God is Omnipresent & Omnipotent. Both the manifest & the un-manifest are a projection of God. They are supported, directed & controlled by God as well. The God can be worshipped in any 'Form' or 'No Form'. Just as the Flag is a symbol of a Nation, an Idol for the Hindu is symbolic of the God. A Hindu worships the God enshrined in the Idol, not the idol itself.

S for Supreme Reality (Brahman)
Supreme Reality is both formless and with form, impersonal and personal, transcendent and immanent. The Supreme Reality is known by many names.

M for Moksha & Mantra
Dharma (Virtue), Artha (Material prosperity), Kama (pleasures) & Moksha (liberation from cycles of birth & death, harmonious union with God) are the goals of life.
The secondary objectives (Artha & Kama) are sandwiched between the primary objectives of

(Dharma & Moksha).Adherence to one's own inherent talents (attitudes & aptitudes) in achieving these goals is suggested.
Moksha is the ultimate goal of Hindu life.
There are numerous paths and innumerable opportunities.
It can happen by one way or the other and in one life or the other.

The various paths for Moksha include:
Karma Yoga - Selfless good deeds
Gnaana Yoga - Knowledge of Brahman
Bhakti Yoga - Faith or Devotion
Prapatti (sharNaagati) Yoga - Total Surrender
Raaja Yoga - Control of body, mind and intellect
Mantra Yoga - Union with God through repetition of a Mantra, etc.

Mantra is a sacred word or a verse used for prayer. Some examples below:

The most sacred Mantra of Hinduism is AUM/OM. AUM represents our beginning (Spring), being
(Summer), passing away (Fall) and immortality (Winter). The A, U and M are followed by silence.

OM iti Brahma, OM iteedam Sarvam (Shiksha Valli, Taittireeya Upanishad )
OM is Brahman, All this is OM (OM is The One - OM is The Many)
(OM is the WOMb of everything)

sarve bhavantu sukhinah sarve santu niraamayaah.
May all be happy, may all be healthy.

sarve bhadraani pashyantu ma-kashchit dhuhkha-bhaag bhavet.
May all be prosperous, may none suffer.

About Buddhism

About Buddhism
Gautama The Buddha, The Enlightened One.
He was the chief's son of a tribal group, the Shakyas, so he was born aKshatriya. At the age of twenty-nine, he left his family in order to lead an ascetic life. A few years later he reappears with a number of followers; he and his followers devote their lives to "The Middle Way," a lifestyle that is midway between a completely ascetic lifestyle and one that is world-devoted. At some point he gained "enlightenment" and began to preach this new philosophy.

  1. The greatest achievement is selflessness.
  2. The greatest worth is self-mastery.
  3. The greatest quality is seeking to serve others.
  4. The greatest precept is continual awareness.
  5. The greatest medicine is the emptiness of everything.
  6. The greatest action is not conforming with the worlds ways.
  7. The greatest magic is transmuting the passions.
  8. The greatest generosity is non-attachment.
  9. The greatest goodness is a peaceful mind.
  10. The greatest patience is humility.
  11. The greatest effort is not concerned with results.
  12. The greatest meditation is a mind that lets go.
  13. The greatest wisdom is seeing through appearances.

Atisha (11th century Tibetan Buddhist master)
