The Art Of Kissing

Posted on 09:30 by Unknown
The Art Of Kissing
Kissing is probably the most physically romantic two people can get. There really is no wrong way to kiss. The thing to remember is that everybody kisses differently and different people prefer different ways of kissing. Some people, believe it or not, are appalled at the idea of French Kissing or using your tongue while you kiss. While others can't imagine kissing without using your tongue. The thing is to try kissing that person
a few times before deciding how you and your partner prefer kissing and to get used to the way that person kisses.

A first kiss should always be done while the two of you are alone. This will help to avoid any unnecessary nervousness and embarrassing situations. The best type of kiss is one that uses different variations, such as starting with a small kiss, working into a French kiss, maybe sucking on your partner's upper or lower lip, then trying the other two types. And don't just leave kisses to the lips. Kiss their cheeks, their chin or their eyelids. This can be very seductive and romantic. The perfect kiss is one that is done with someone you really care about. There is more caring and sincerity in a kiss with someone special than with someone you hardly know, although a really good kiss can certainly bring two people closer together.

A lot of people is in the fear of kissing someone. The best remedy is dnot kiss that person right away. Wait until an attraction builds between the two of you and a romantic situation evolves. Go out with the person a couple of times before having that first kiss.

KISSING BASICS:

There are so many different ways to kiss. The two main basic ones are close-mouthed kissing and French kissing.  French kissing involves an open mouth and with tongue, while close mouthed kissing is pretty self-explanatory.

Doís
Only use enough tongue to feel the other person's tongue.
Be gentle with the first kiss.
Smile after you kiss.  Or in the least laugh or giggle to show some emotion.
Swallow periodically during the kiss.
Participate in the kiss.
Make sure your breath is fresh by either brushing your teeth or having a mint or piece of gum.
It is OK to kiss someone on the first date.  And if not the first date at least during the second.
Always make sure the first kiss is when the two of you are alone.

Doníts

Don't use too much tongue.
Don't mash your lips against your partner's.
Don't look terrified when the other person approaches you for a kiss.
Do not talk about a first kiss with the person you're going to kiss for the first time.  This will ruin the excitement and may turn down expectations.
Don't salivate all over your partner while kissing.
Don't just let your partner do all the work during the kiss.
Don't eat garlic or other harsh foods before a kiss.
Don't remain emotionless after the kiss.
Don't wait until the 20th date to kiss her/him.
Don't open your mouth so wide that it feels like you are sucking the other person in.
Don't have the first kiss with someone in public in front of others.

Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka

The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka was called Ceylon until 1972. In ancient sources it is referred to as Lanka, Taprobane and also as Serendib. As a tourism destination it indeed has everything to ensure ‘serendipity’: for making happy and unexpected discoveries.  Despite its size of only 65,525 square kilometers the island offers a wide variety of landscapes and great natural beauty: from picturesque beaches to impressive mountains, from rainforests to red desert-like plains, from spectacular botanical gardens to unique wildlife.

The six cultural World Heritage Sites of Sri Lanka are:

1. The Ancient City of Polonnaruwa (added in 1982).  In 993 Polonnaruwa became the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura. It  includes both the Brahmanic monuments built by the Cholas, and the ruins of the garden-city Parakramabahu I created in the 12th century.

2. The Ancient City of Sigiriya (added in 1982). This capital was built by King Kassapa I (477–95). The ruins lie on the 370 m high 'Lion's Rock', which dominates the jungle.

3. The Golden Temple of Dambulla (added in 1991) has been a sacred pilgrimage site for 22 centuries. The cave monastery comprises of five sanctuaries with impressive Buddhist mural paintings and 157 statues and is the largest and best-preserved cave-temple complex in Sri Lanka.

4. The Old Town of Galle and its Fortifications (added in 1988). Galle was founded by the Portugese in the 16th century. UNESCO describes the site as  “the best example of a fortified city built by Europeans in South and South-East Asia, showing the interaction between European architectural styles and South Asian traditions.”

5. The Sacred City of Anuradhapura (added in 1982), established around a cutting from the 'tree of enlightenment'. This cutting of the Buddha's fig tree was brought there in the 3rd century B.C. by Sanghamitta, the founder of an order of Buddhist nuns. Anuradhapura flourished for 1,300 years as a religious center and the Ceylonese capital.

6. The Sacred City of Kandy (added in 1988). Here one finds the Temple of the Tooth Relic (the sacred tooth of the Buddha), a famous Buddhist pilgrimage site. Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhala kings and the center of the Dinahala culture for more than 2,500 years, until the British occupation in 1815.

7. A natural World Heritage Site, the Sinharaja Forest Reserve,  was added to the list in 1988. It is located in south-west Sri Lanka. Sinharaja is Sri Lanka’s “last viable area of primary tropical rainforest” with endemic and rare flora and fauna.

8. In 2006 three properties of great natural and cultural importance were submitted for tentative listing, namely Peak Wilderness Sanctuary, Horton Plains National Park and Knuckles Range.

They are all situated in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Horton Plains National Park and Knuckles Range are part of the Central Massif. There, Adam's Peak reaches 2243 meters, Kirigalpotha and Totupolakanda in the rim of Horton Plains reach 2389 and 2357 meters respectively.

Other major national parks and reserves are, for example, Yala National Park, Gal Oya National Park, Uda Walawe National Park, Wilpattu National Park and Minneriya National Park.

ABORTION

Posted on 22:48 by Unknown
ABORTION
Soviet poster circa 1925, warning against midwives performing abortions. Title translation: "Abortions performed by either trained or self-taught midwives not only maim the woman, they also often lead to death."
*********************************************************************************
Expulsion of the products of conception before the pregnancy has come to full term is termed as "abortion or miscarriage". About three-fourth of all miscarriages occur within the first twelve weeks and most of them occur due to some injury or fall during pregnancy; in cases of sudden shock, fear, joy or sorrow; in cases of mothers who are smoking, drinking alcohol or suffering from malnutrition; in cases where certain drugs are taken by the mother-taken for prolonged period or even once or twice (e.g. oral contraceptive pills) before or during the pregnancy; exposure of the expectant mother to radiation or toxic chemicals; due to some genetic abnormality of the embryo; some hormonal imbalance or due to improper implantation of the embryo.

HOME REMEDIES

1. Calcium-rich food-Eat lots of calcium-rich food like dairy products and green, leafy vegetables.

2. Cereals-Eat plenty of whole grain cereals such as bread, rice and pasta.

3. Cinnamon-In cases where there is bleeding in a pregnant woman following a  false  step, overlifting or over-reaching, chew on a piece of cinnamon (tuj) and take a little sugar.

4. Fruits and vegetables-Have plenty of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables daily.

5. Lotus root=Juice of lotus root is an age-old remedy for miscarriage.

6. Pomegranate (anar)-Pomegranate  leaves given with powder of sandalwood, curds and honey helps prevent a miscarriage.

7. Protein-rich food-Eat lots of protein-rich food like beans, eggs, fish, nuts, peas, poultry, seeds, etc.

8. Sesame  seeds (til)-Mixture of equal  parts of  sesame seeds, powdered barley (jau) and sugar with some honey stabilizes the embryo when there is a danger of spontaneous abortion or miscarriage.

9. Turmeric-Mix two teaspoonfuls of turmeric powder in one glass of 200 ml of water and drink 50 ml of this water every two hourly till the bleeding stops.

10. Vitamins E and B complex-Grains, seeds and nuts are rich in Vitamin E and B complex and so should be taken liberally.

USEFUL DIETARY HINTS TO AVOID ABORTION

*Avoid caffeine products (like coffee, chocolate, tea, cola), alcohol and cigarettes.

*Mint leaves should not be taken in large quantities.

*Papaya and its sap should be avoided.

*Excessive pineapple in any form is harmful during pregnancy as it causes premature uterine contractions.

*Poppy seeds should be avoided by pregnant and breast-feeding women.

*Sesame seeds should not be consumed.

HAIRFALL AND EARLY GREYING OF HAIR

Posted on 20:20 by Unknown
HAIRFALL AND EARLY GREYING OF HAIR
The hair root is encased in a follicle that is nourished by blood vessels. A youthful scalp contains approximately 100,000 to 200,000 hairs. Normally, an average person loses about 50-100 strands daily and the average hair grows only half an inch per month. Excessive loss or absence of hair is called as 'alopecia or balding'. Common causes of hairfall and early pecacu are-inadequate nutrition, heredity, stress, high fever, hormonal imbalance, side effect of some medication (cytotoxic agents, anticoagulants, antithyroid drugs and oral contraceptives) and certain illnesses (like anemia, thyroid disorders, autoimmune disorders, etc.). Alopecia areata appears as sharply defined non-inflamed bald patches on the scalp. Alopecia totalis is a condition where there is total or complete loss of the scalp hair and alopecia universalis signifies a complete loss of hair all over the body.
Avoid massaging the scalp vigorously. Massage the scalp gently with the fingertips. This increases the circulation and thus helps provide proper nutrition (through a blood circulation) to the hair follicle. Comb or brush the hair when it is dry since grooming it when wet can lead to breaking of the hair. Do not blow-dry the hair on a high setting.

HOME REMEDIES

1. Increase the intake of alfalfa sprouts, barley (jau) and oats, wheat germ, fish, meat, liver, cheese, milk, ghee, butter, eggs, fresh fruit (especially citrus fruits) or  vegetable juices, green vegetables, parsley, broccoli, green pepper, peas, beans, prunes (dried plums), some berries and black currants. Avoid salt, spicy, hot and pungent food as far as possible. Taking a well-balanced diet with adequate proteins and iron, consisting especially of servings of seeds, nuts, grains, fresh vegetables, fish, chicken and fruits.

2. Washing the hair with a paste of cooked black gram (urad dal) and fenugreek (methi) lengthens the hair.

3. Applying aloe vera gel on the scalp is useful for hair growth.

4. Apply fresh coconut milk to the hair roots all over the scalp twice a week for increasing the hair growth. Coconut milk is prepared by grinding the coconut shavings and squeezing it well to remove the milk.

5. A mixture of lettuce and spinach (palak) juice, at least half a litre daily helps to increase the growth of hair.

6. Lemon juice when taken internally or rubbed on the scalp at night proves to be useful to reduce the hairfall.

7. Drink a glass of water containing one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar. Also apply vinegar to the bald spots with the help of a toothbrush.

8. Grapefruit (chakotra) juice if taken daily gives some relief.

9. Make a mixture of half a cup of castor oil (arandi), one cup of olive oil and two cups of coconut oil. Heat this and then store it and apply it after it cools.

10. Apply a sliced onion over the bald spots in the evening and wash it the next morning.

11. Using Indian gooseberry (amla) oil, made by boiling the dry Indian gooseberry fruits in coconut oil, is an effective remedy for stimulating hair growth. A mixture of an equal quantity of fresh Indian gooseberry juice and limejuice, used as a shampoo, also stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss.

12. Grind a few pieces of liquorice (mulethi) in milk with a pinch of saffron and this paste is then applied over the bald patches at night before going to bed.

13. A fine paste is made from pigeon pea (arhar dal) or red gram and applied regularly on bald patches.

14. Local application of til oil helps one get rid of early pecacu.

15. Fresh leaf juice of amaranth (chauli) when applied to the hair will promote hair growth and make the hair softer.

16. Massage a beaten egg on the head and then rinse it out and shampoo it.

17. Washing the hair with a decoction of the leaves of the Margosa (Neem) tree will stop the hair from falling and stabilize its blackness. It will also kill the lice and make the hair longer.

18. Henna leaves (mehndi) are ground to a paste and this is then boiled in mustard oil and the darkish oil is then filtered and used to blacken grey hair. The paste is applied to the hair and washed away after a few hours to dye the hair.

19. Make a mixture from two tablespoons of vodka and one tablespoon of honey and one tablespoon of onion juice and apply it on the scalp daily.

20. The seeds of lime and black pepper seeds are ground and made into a paste by adding it to plain water or ginger juice. This paste is applied on the bald patches once or twice daily for a few weeks to encourage growth of new hair.

21. Coconut milk is applied all over the scalp and massaged into the hair roots. Coconut milk is prepared by grinding the coconut shavings and squeezing them well.

22. In pure coconut oil, the following ingredients are boiled-dry pieces of gooseberry, a few crushed capsules of Harir with red hibiscus flowers till the solid matter turns black. The oil is filtered and stored and is to be applied twice daily for a few months.

23. Crush raw fruit of Indian gooseberry (amla) and apply over the head and allow it to dry for a few hours and then wash it off. This is a useful method for preventing premature pecacu of hair.

24. Increase the intake of chutney made from curry leaves for hair growth since these leaves provide good strength and vitality to hair roots.

25. Wash the hair with concentrated tea extract twice a week. This will gradually change the hair color from brown to black.

Juice Fasting

Juice Fasting
Source: http://www.rawfoodsinternational.com/
Raw juice therapy is a method of treatment of disease through an exclusive diet of juices of fruits and vegetables. It is also known as juice fasting. It is the most effective way to restore health  and rejuvenate the body.

During raw juice therapy, the eliminative and cleansing capacity of the organs of elimination, namely lungs, liver, kidneys and the skin, is greatly increased and masses of accumulated metabolic waste and toxins are quickly eliminated. It affords a physiological rest to the digestive and assimilative organs. After the juice fasting or raw juice therapy, the digestion of food and the utilisation of nutrients is vastly improved.

An exclusive diet of raw juices of fruits and vegetables results in much faster recovery from diseases and more effective cleansing and regeneration of the tissues than the fasting on pure water. Dr. Ragnar Berg, a world-renowned authority on nutriton and biochemistry observes : "During fasting the body burns up and excretes huge amounts of accumulated wastes. We can help this cleansing process by drinking alkaline juices instead of water while fasting. I have supervised many fasts and made extensive examinations and tests of fasting patients, and I am convinced that drinking alkali forming fruit and vegetable juices, instead of water, during fasting will increase the healing effect of fasting. Elimination of uric acid and other inorganic acids will be accelerated. And sugars in juices will strengthen the heart. Juice fasting is,therefore, the best form of fasting. "

As juices are extracted from plants and fruits, they process definite medicinal properties. Specific juices are beneficial in specific conditions. Besides specific medicinal virtues, raw fruit and vegetable juices have an extraordinary revitalising and rejuvenative effect on all the organs, glands and functions of the body.

Favourable Effects
The favourable effect of raw juices in the treatment of disease is attributed to the following facts :
Raw juices of fruits and vegetables are extremely rich in vitamins, minerals, trace elements, enzymes and natural sugars. They exercise beneficial effect in normalising all the body functions. They supply needed elements for the body’s own healing activity and cell regeneration, thereby speeding the recovery.

1.  The juices extracted from raw fruits and vegetables require no digestion and almost all their vital nutrients are assimilated directly in the bloodstream.
2.  Raw juices are extremely rich in alkaline elements. This is highly beneficial in normalising acid-alkaline balance in the blood and tissues as there is over-acidity in most conditions of ill-health.
3.  Generous amounts of easily assimilable organic minerals in raw juices especially calcium, potassium and silicon help in restoring biochemical and mineral balance in the tissues and cells, thereby preventing premature ageing of cells and disease.
4.  Raw juices contain certain natural medicines, vegetal hormones and antibiotics. For instance, string beans are said to contain insulin-like substance. Certain hormones needed by the pancreas to produce insulin are present in cucumber and onion juices.Fresh juices of garlic , onions, radish and tomatoes contain antibiotic substances.

The Spirit Trees

The Spirit Trees
By Keith Jennings
Many of the “tree spirits” that inhabit St. Simons Island are gone now, some enveloped by the trees they once occupied.

The “tree spirits,” as they are called by residents, came to life about 20 years ago when Keith Jennings, a local artist, began carving mystical faces in trees on St. Simons Island.

Initially, about 20 spirits came to inhabit the island, but only a few remain visible on public property. The others have faded into the bark of the trees they once adorned, been felled with the trees they occupied, or are on private property.

What Is Black Soap ?

Posted on 08:16 by Unknown
What Is Black Soap ?
Black soap, or African black soap, also known as Alata Samina or Alata Soap originates fromWest Africa. It has been used for centuries in Ghana. Its methods and secrets have been passed down from generation to generation to keep the soap close to Mother Nature and avoid exploitation and imitation. Many have tried to create their version of Black soap with all kinds of ingredients. Ghana's Alata soap is the best quality black soap, because it is all ORIGIONAL.

For centuries, Ghanaians had used Black Soap to help relieve acne, oily skin, clear blemishes in various other skin uses. African black soap has also been used to achieve beautiful skin. Africans of also use this natural soap for bathing and washing their hair. It's great for removing makeup. Black soap will leave your skin soft, clear and smelling delicious. This soap is not scented.

Alata Samina or Anago Samina is the term used in the local dialect called Twi to refer to black soap or African Black Soap. Alata or Anago is a reference to the people of the northern region of Ghana, mainly the Hausa tribe. Alata Samina is now used all over Ghana.

Glaxo or African black soap comes from plantain skin. It is a natural source of vitamin A and E and iron. Plantain is a popular food in Africa, South Africa and other parts of the world. They can be found in ethnic or international grocery stores such as Latino, Caribbean for African. It looks like banana but much bigger. It does not taste like banana and has to be cooked before eating. The skin of the plantain is gingerly dried to
precise texture under the hot African sun. It is then roasted in a clay oven. The heat must be constant in order to achieve a particular color, texture and fragrance. In some recipes, Cocoa Pod is used instead of Plantain skin. Cocoa pod is the shell of the cocoa fruit. The cocoa beans are used for making chocolate or cocoa butter, among other things.

The next process is very delicate, and if it is not done properly, with the right ingredients, there will be no soap. The roasted plantain skin is mixed with palm oil, palm kernel oil from the soap. The roasting of the plantain skin determines the color of the soap. The longer the plantain skins are roasted, the dark of the soap. African black soap is generations old and has numerous benefits and is not scented. It can be used by anyone who wishes to improve quality of their skin.

BUYERS BEWARE: Fake black soap is hard. It is died black. It does not contain any traditional ingredients. Instead, it is loaded with cheap vegetable oil and stains your wash cloth. This soap is chemically processed.
