Disable low disk space message in Windows 8
This tweak also applies to Windows XP.When your system hard disk is running out of space, Windows Vista will pop up a small message indicating that there is less memory on your system. This pop-up message can come in handy but may even get annoying at a particular point of time. Aside from being annoying, Windows 8's constant checking for low space uses system resources which slow down Windows. Hence here’s a small registry tweak that can turn off the low disk space checks in Windows 8.
1. Click “Start”, and type “regedit” in the search box, and then hit the “Enter” key.
2. Browse to the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion” registry key.
3. Select “Policies” key under “CurrentVersion”.
4. From the Registry Editor menu, click “Edit|New|Key”. The key will be named New Key #1 by default.
5. Change the name of the key to “Explorer” and press “Enter”.
6. While the Explorer key is still selected, click Edit|New|DWORD (32-bit) Value. The DWORD created beneath Explorer, will be named New Value #1 by default.
7. Change the DWORD to “NoLowDiskSpaceChecks”.
8. Right-click on the new “NoLowDiskSpaceChecks” DWORD and select the “Modify” option.
9. In the “Value data”, type “1”.
10. Click OK and close the Registry Editor. Windows Vista will no longer pop up the low disk space warning.
11. Schedule a backup.
